Pharmacy Manager - Employee Pharmacy

Description:

Education Requirements: Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Licensed pharmacist or eligible for pharmacist licensure in the State of Georgia.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years retail and/or health-system pharmacy experience preferred.

Required Skills: The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for practicing as a pharmacist and overseeing all medication procurement, storage, and preparation in the pharmacy and organizations served.

The Pharmacy Manager ensures that the pharmacy provides optimal services; facilitates safe medication use; meets all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements; and complies with all applicable policies, procedures, codes, and standards of the organization.

Pharmacists fill orders for medications, monitor patient medication therapies, provide drug information, and supervise/direct support personnel.

Pharmacy Managers must have the ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately; work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff; handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule; set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests; exercise sound professional judgement; communicate effectively (orally and in writing); and meet the pharmaceutical care needs of the patient populations served by the organization (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric).

Physical Demands: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g. preparing IV admixtures, use of a computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs), including boxes, equipment, and IV solutions, and stooping or kneeling; sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-12 hours) is often necessary; must be able to physically operate the equipment used for the job.

Supervises: Pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and technician students, pharmacy interns, pharmacy practice residents, and volunteers. Supervised By: Archbold Director of Pharmacy Assistant Vice President of Health Services
