Work Schedule:
100% FTE, Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. This is a hybrid role, when onsite, you will work at the Pharmacy Services Building in Middleton, WI.
We are seeking a Supervisor, Pharmacy Authorization to:
  • Supervise daily operations of a team of medication access specialists and coordinators, providing direction, support, workload management, and performance oversight.
  • Lead integration and coordination efforts across multiple UW Health medication related prior authorization and support programs, ensuring aligned processes, clear communication, and consistent service delivery.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Medicare and commercial payer reimbursement requirements, including Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs), prior authorization criteria, and both medical and pharmacy benefit billing mechanisms.


The ideal candidate will have prior leadership experience, preferably as a prior authorization supervisor. Pharmacy level expertise is essential.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a health care field. Experience in lieu of education will be considered in addition to required work experience. Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred


Work Experience
  • 3 years of medication prior authorization experience Required
  • Experience with pharmacy and/or medical benefit prior authorizations and reimbursement Required
  • 5 years previous medication prior authorization and claims adjudication experience Preferred
  • 5 years of supervisory experience Preferred
  • Experience working in a role in a patient care setting Preferred
  • Experience in both pharmacy and medical benefit prior authorizations Preferred


Licenses & Certifications
  • Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required or
  • Pharmacy Tech Registration Upon Hire Required

These employees perform various services and duties, including pharmacy administration, pharmacy primary care services, medication prior authorization, sterile and non-sterile compounding, unit dose packaging, and specialty/mail service program.
