Job DescriptionThe Department of Pharmacy at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Pharmacist. The successful candidate will:
- Dispense, compound, admix drugs and other pharmaceuticals.
- Provide medication counseling and reconciliation.
- Review medication orders for safety and efficacy and then approves orders within our CPOE system to main medication profiles.
- Review and approve Pyxis profile orders.
- Administer oncology, TPN, and investigational drug solutions as needed.
- Dispense controlled substances as needed and maintain files.
- Participate in drug utilization review studies, QA, and PI programs.
- Actively participate in new technologies and operational programs.
- Maintain the records of Pharmacy.
- Supervise technicians and support staff.
- Report to Senior Pharmacists, the Director, and Associate Director of Pharmacy.
- Provide in-service education to healthcare professionals on demand.
- Rotate with medical teams and/or participate in specific medication management programs.
- Be available for holiday coverage rotation and on-call/recall rotation as required.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications- New York State Pharmacist Licensure.
- Pharm D. from an Accredited College of Pharmacy
Preferred Qualifications- Prior hospital Pharmacist experience.
- Completion of a PGY-1 Residency.
