About the role The Sterile Compounding Pharmacist is responsible for the preparation, verification, and oversight of sterile compounded medications in accordance with USP , state Board of Pharmacy regulations, and internal quality standards. This role ensures that sterile compounding activities are performed safely, accurately, and in compliance with regulatory requirements while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and product quality.
The pharmacist will work collaboratively with pharmacy technicians, quality personnel, and leadership to maintain compliant sterile compounding operations and support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Verify and oversee the preparation of sterile compounded medications in accordance with USP and applicable regulations.
- Ensure proper aseptic technique and adherence to sterile compounding procedures.
- Perform final product verification, including review of formulations, labeling, and documentation.
- Maintain accurate compounding records and batch documentation.
- Participate in environmental monitoring, quality assurance programs, and sterility testing review.
- Assist with deviation investigations, CAPA development, and quality event documentation.
- Supervise sterile compounding technicians and ensure adherence to sterile procedures.
- Monitor compliance with garbing procedures, aseptic technique, and cleanroom protocols.
Qualifications- Active Pharmacist license in good standing
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Strong knowledge of sterile compounding practices and regulatory requirements
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of aseptic technique and cleanroom operations
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Experience- Sterile compounding experience
- Knowledge of USP
- Experience in a compounding pharmacy or sterile production environments

The pay range for this role is:
141,000 - 150,000 USD per year (SmartPharmaRX)
