ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Under the direction of the Pharmacy Director, serves as the pharmacy supervisor of the assigned GLBHC Pharmacy location performing all duties of this position including but not limited to personnel management, Quality Assurance and Quality Check activities, pharmacy operations, prescription orders, rational and safe drug therapy, and pharmacy economics. Listed as the Pharmacist in charge on the State Licensing site. (40%)
Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals. Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders. Detects any therapeutic incompatibilities. Works with Medical staff to care for patients according to the model of integrated health care. Complies with federal and state drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration. (10%)
Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies, advises interventions when necessary. (5%)
Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' workflow. Verifies their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals, order entries, charges, and inspections. (20%)
Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals. Counsels patients on drug therapies. (15%)
Works with the Pharmacy Director to develop and maintain best pharmacy practices. Implements changing/new protocols under the direction of the Pharmacy Director. (5%)
Maintains records for controlled substances. Removes outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory. (5%)
MARGINAL JOB DUTIES
Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.
Maintains a safe and clean working environment.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
Licensure: Current Michigan Pharmacist license, BLS Certification
Experience: Previous supervisory experience of Pharmacy staff required. Strong familiarity with issues of compliance for state and federal regulations.
Skills: Computer skills. Knowledge of Pharmacy program literacy. Bilingual (Spanish/English preferred).
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
Physical Effort: Must be able to sit, stand, and or walk for an entire workday. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and or twist while holding up to 25 lbs. frequently.
Hours of Work: Full-time or Part-time; Flexible and varied as assigned.
Travel: Generally, not a requirement of this position. If needed, reimbursement in accordance with GLBHC travel policy.
