Unit Summary

The Pharmacy Department at the Juravinski Cancer Centre effectively manages drug therapy for positive patient outcomes and is committed to oncology pharmaceutical care. Patient focused health care empowers Pharmacist participation in both retail and general oncology settings. Working toward integration with the primary care teams, this allows for maximization of the Pharmacists clinical role and provides enhanced Pharmacy Technician roles in drug distribution.

Position Summary

The Clinical Pharmacist is a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team providing pharmaceutical care to patients in the JCC Cancer Programs. The Pharmacist reviews and assesses medication orders and works with the patient and healthcare team directly to optimize medication use, avoid medication-related problems and achieve desired patient outcomes. The Pharmacist will provide drug information, will promote evidence-based/cost effective drug therapy, will promote clinically relevant research and be involved in educational activities for students, families and staff. The pharmacist works with chemotherapy technicians to ensure safe medication practice within pharmacy. Ongoing collaboration and communication within the healthcare team and with the pharmacy team is essential.

Monday to Friday; day

Qualifications

  1. Licensed as a pharmacist with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  2. Baccalaureate of Science degree in Pharmacy
  3. Demonstrated ability to function as an independent practitioner
  4. Demonstrated communication, teaching, teamwork and evaluation skills
  5. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning
  6. Oncology practice experience preferred
