Job SummaryAs General Manager (GM), Pharmacist, you're the heart of our dispensary. You bring both the expertise of a licensed pharmacist and the drive of a people-first leader-guiding patients and caregivers to the right products while running a compliant, high-performing operation. You own the full dispensary experience: from the moment a patient walks into the accuracy of every product on our shelves.
You lead the team and make sure we're always operating in full compliance with state and local regulations. This role requires an active State pharmacist license and completion of all required courses under the applicable Statute.
Duties and Responsibilities- Consult with qualified patients; meeting them where they are and helping them find the right solution with confidence and care.
- Champion a welcoming, judgment-free environment where every person who walks through our doors feels heard and respected.
- Resolve patient-staff concerns quickly and thoughtfully, keeping the experience positive and professional.
- Uphold the security and confidentiality of all patient information in compliance with HIPAA.
Compliance- Ensure full compliance with all State Medical Marijuana Program rules and regulations.
- Oversee patient identification, registration, and record retention processes.
- Keep your finger on the pulse of state and local regulatory changes and adapt operations accordingly.
- Train and educate dispensary staff on compliance requirements continuously.
Qualifications- Active Virginia pharmacist license in good standing, without restrictions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Experience managing budgets and driving financial performance.
- Project management experience required.
Education- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an ACPE-accredited college or school of pharmacy required. Active, unrestricted Virginia pharmacist license required.
Experience- Recent experience (within the last 5 years) with patient-oriented drug delivery systems and genuine passion for patient care and service.
- 3+ years managing a retail operation, you understand the full picture from staffing and scheduling to compliance and theft prevention.
- Demonstrated leadership in a high-growth environment; you thrive when things move fast.
- Solid business acumen: you can read a P&L, problem-solve on the fly, and communicate results clearly.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills-you listen well, coach with purpose, and communicate across all levels.
- Strong command of conflict management, project management, and time management.
- Sound judgment and confident decision-making, especially under pressure.
- Comfort with computers and dispensary management software.
