JOB SUMMARY To interpret and prepare and dispense all prescriptions, so that the correct drug in the correct dosages gets to the correct patients for the correct therapy. To disseminate drug information to the patients, physicians, nurses, and other hospital personnel.
JOB QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Graduate of college of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education as evidenced by an active pharmacy license.
Licensure: Current license to practice Pharmacy in the State of Tennessee.
Experience: Previous hospital experience is desired, but not necessary
Skills: Ability to communicate with members of the Medical Staff and Medical Center and apply educational database to carry out job responsibilities in an efficient and proficient manner
RESPONSIBILITIES- Contributes to the efficient and productive operation of the department
- Responsible for receiving, interpreting, processing, and dispensing of all physicians' orders for medications and IV solutions
- Responsible for filling and dispensing outpatient prescriptions, proper handling of cytotoxic drugs, maintaining control of Schedule II medications, checking technician's work, and completing floor inspections
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
- Participates in the provision of pharmacokinetic dosing services for aminoglycoside, vancomycin, and aminophylline consults
- Participates in the provision of renal dosing services
- Reports to work as scheduled
