Description

Job Title: Pharmacist

Department: Pharmacy

Report to: Pharmacy Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs all duties of a licensed pharmacist; ensures the safety, security, and integrity of all medications; ensures strict adherence to all laws and regulations governing the dispensing and sale of pharmaceuticals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (responsibilities include, but are not limited to):

- Greets customers when within ten feet and four seconds of contact, by name if possible, during transactions

- Assist in supervising and recommending disciplinary action for associates in department.

- Assist with work schedules, assigning work, training, enforcing Company policies and SOP's,

- Ensures that the pharmacy complies with the HIPAA laws/rules/regulations, the laws/rules/regulations of the board of pharmacy and/or regulatory agencies and abides by and enforces all company policies and procedures fairly and consistently.

- Compounds medications, using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients as needed.

- Administers vaccinations as appropriate, following established professional, federal, and state protocols.

- Assist with the processing of invoices, department reports, employee appraisals, inventory and supply ordering

- Assist in receiving pharmacy drugs and supplies and ensures that authorized items are received

- Process customers' prescriptions, by collecting the necessary information for the prescription based on the doctor's instructions; assists the Pharmacist in filling prescriptions; enters information into the computer, packs the prescriptions; and files applicable insurance claims.

- Calls third party insurance plans when unable to determine appropriate claim filing not achieved.

- Collects payment and processes transactions on the Point-of-Sale system.

- Monitors inventory stock levels in Pharmacy, Home Health Care OTC section, and in Automation Device (if applicable)

- Pre-packages and labels various pharmaceutical preparations.

- Processes invoices for merchandise received and alerts Retails Support Center of price discrepancies.

- Understand and abide by all company policies and procedures

- Performs other related duties as needed as assigned by manager

OTHER DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Use proper safety procedures

- Maintain a filing system for memorandums on procedures, third party plans, patient files.

- Stocks and/or faces pharmacy Over-the-Counter (OTC) items.

- Orders supplies from vendors.

- Maintains working area, sales floor areas, shelves, and storage areas to ensure that they are clean and orderly at all times.

- Performs quarterly inventory of items in the Automation Device (if applicable) and prepares pharmacy for inventory.

- Pull and prepare expired merchandise to be returned to the wholesaler or return company.

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:

- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university of Pharmacy

- Must be 18 years of age to ring register per company policy

- State of Hawaii Pharmacist License

- Possesses First Aid / CPR / AED Certification

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Working with the public

- Basic mathematical knowledge and cash handling experience preferred

- Ability to read and understand formulas and measuring quantities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- Air condition while in store, subject to outside conditions of heat, rain, and wind while retrieving wagons/helping customers to their car, and chill temperatures if products need to be retrieved from chill

- Very fast paced
