Pharmacist Clinical Specialist Oncology, Transplant/Cellular Therapy

Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking a highly motivated Oncology Pharmacy Specialist to join our Transplant/Cellular Therapy and Hematology service line. This position works closely with the multidisciplinary team of physicians, APP"s, nursing staff and pharmacy personnel with a primary focus in transplant and cellular therapy. Responsibilities include developing treatment plans and chemotherapy orders in close collaboration with the provider, optimizing medication management, providing chemotherapy education to patients, and managing immunosuppression consults all while contributing to exceptional patient care. Other duties include Hematology-Oncology medication safety process improvements as well as oversight of medication management policies and procedures.

What you will do in this role:
  • You will utilize good problem-solving abilities, making sure that problems are resolved, calling on other knowledgeable parties as necessary.
  • You will maintain strong knowledge of hospital policies and government regulations and dispense accordingly.
  • You will consult with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient reactions, errors and complaints.
  • You will determine and consult on possible drug interactions.
  • You will assist with quality improvement initiatives, inventory and ordering of pharmaceuticals.
  • You will monitor, record and communicate as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
  • You will utilize knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities.


What qualifications you will need:
  • Candidates must have completed PGY-2 in Oncology or have equivalent hospital experience
  • Must have BCOP certification or be eligible within 2 years of hire
  • Current TN Pharmacist licensure or eligible for licensure
  • One-year hospital experience or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
  • Doctorate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
