Additional Information About the Role

Join Christian Hospital as a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist and play a direct role in improving patient outcomes in the ICU. Working alongside a multidisciplinary care team, you will participate in daily ICU rounds, provide clinical pharmacy services including order verification, pharmacokinetic, warfarin, and TPN consults, and collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and dietitians. In addition to patient care responsibilities, you will contribute to committee and research initiatives while serving as a preceptor for pharmacy residents and students. This is an excellent opportunity to advance your clinical practice in a dynamic, team-based environment.

PGY1 residency required.

  • M-F, Days
  • Every 5th weekend

Role Purpose

Evaluates and recommends appropriate drug therapy to achieve optimal cost-effective patient outcomes, by working directly with physicians, other health professionals, and patients. Participates in the development, provision and evaluation of comprehensive pharmaceutical care and quality assurance programs through scholarly activities. Serves as a resource to the pharmacy staff and other hospital departments.

Responsibilities
  • Assess the overall status of the patient's health condition and evaluates medication profile for optimal patient outcomes. Monitors therapy and goals of care. Documents all activities and communication as appropriate.
  • Participates in professional development and research activities.
  • Contributes to performance improvement, clinical effectiveness, drug use evaluation, and HSO/BJC committee activities.
  • Participates in the education and training of pharmacy staff, residents and students, and serves as a role model and mentor.
  • Participates in the identification and implementation of targeted drug cost reduction programs.
