RoleUnder administrative direction, provides pharmacy medication dispensing and consulting services regarding the effective usage of medications and awareness of drug interactions.
Major Duties, Responsibilities - Performs and/ or completes assigned pharmaceutical care and administrative duties supporting pharmacy operations within established time frames, meeting established rates of performance for the quality and quantity of work for the position.
- Serves as a medication information resource to patients, providers, and staff by providing counseling, drug information, drug therapy consultation, health promotion, and disease prevention related to medication use.
- Communicates with and verifies a patient's understanding of medications and desired outcomes of drug therapy.
- May be required to provide immunization services in accordance with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines as directed by the organization; accesses and maintains immunization records through the Arizona State Immunization Information System (ASIIS); oversees proper vaccine storage and handling. Willingness to obtain immunization certification if required by the organization.
- Responsible for performing final verification of prescriptions and medications being dispensed. Evaluates appropriate drug dosing, drug/food interactions, appropriateness of drug therapy, effective patient counseling, clinical intervention, medication therapy management, and decisions relating to generic and therapeutic substitutions.
- Reviews and ensures the appropriateness of drug therapy.
- Maintains a comprehensive understanding that ensures compliance with Federal, State, 340B Drug Pricing Program regulations, and third-party funding sources standards and laws.
- Protects patient health information and ensures compliance with all HIPAA and corporate compliance standards.
- Provides leadership, training, operational oversight, and direction of assigned pharmacy staff, ensuring delivery of the highest quality patient care.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years' experience in a clinical setting (or completion of a clinical residency program) to include a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Licenses or Certification: Must possess a Pharmacist license from Arizona State Board of Pharmacy.
Must possess Basic Life Support Certification and Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card prior to employment.
Additional Requirements:Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license
Must possess a current fingerprint clearance card Issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Work Environment:
The work environment is associated with an office. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated. Employee may be exposed to fumes and chemicals.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effectively in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
