Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assure appropriate selection, dosing, and dispensing of medications.
  • Review and assess medication orders to prevent drug-related problems.
  • Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate.
  • Compound and dispense medications for accurate patient delivery.
  • Provide drug information and education to staff and patients.
  • Communicate with healthcare providers to facilitate patient care.
  • Oversee technical personnel in medication preparation and dispensing.
  • Serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students when needed.

Your future role at a glance

Location: Tulsa, OK

Facility: Ascension St. John Medical Center

Department: Inpatient Pharmacy

Schedule: Day shift Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, every other weekend, approx. 3-4 2:30pm-11:00pm shifts per month

How you'll make an impact in this role

  • Ensure Patient Safety: Review medication orders to catch and prevent drug-related issues, making sure patients receive the correct medication, dosage, and administration.
  • Manage Pharmacy Operations: Supervise technicians to maintain an accurate and efficient workflow for preparing, storing, and dispensing medications.
  • Control Costs: Recommend less expensive, but equally effective, formulary alternatives to help the hospital manage medication expenses.
  • Educate and Inform: Serve as the go-to expert for drug information and provide education to both medical staff and patients, sometimes mentoring pharmacy students.

What minimum requirements you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Licensed Pharmacist credentialed from the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.


Education:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required.

What additional preferences we're seeking

  • Hospital experience preferred
  • New grads and retail experience are welcome to apply
