Responsibilities

  • Lead pricing negotiations with pharmaceutical manufacturers to achieve sustainable cost savings.

  • Participate as a voting member of the Pharmaceutical & Therapeutics committee to evaluate drug reviews.
  • Provide drug plan management expertise to clients and suppliers as needed.
  • Assist in developing communications related to GreenShield's drug management strategies.
  • Represent GreenShield at conferences and industry groups to solidify its position as a leading Pharmacy Benefits Manager.

THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

Base Salary: CAD $72,521.00 - 109,341.00

The Pharmaceutical Agreements Manager is a member of the Pharmacy team and is the main point of contact for external stakeholders (pharmaceutical manufacturers, vendors, private payors, etc.) regarding GreenShield's drug pricing negotiations and innovative program implementation to ultimately create solutions that improve access to better health for plan members, partners and plan sponsors while achieving cost-sustainability. Opportunity to shape GreenShield's drug strategy and lead innovative agreements that are transforming access to care in Canada.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Lead pricing negotiations with pharmaceutical manufacturers to deliver sustainable cost savings while improving access to innovative therapies for plan members.
  • Collaborates with external stakeholders, primarily the pharmaceutical industry, regarding strategies and approaches for supporting listing of new drug treatments.
    • Develops and sustains strong relationships with stakeholders in the drug approval and reimbursement landscape.
  • Participates as a voting member of Pharmaceutical & Therapeutics committee, considering and evaluating all drug reviews.
  • Provides drug plan management expertise to clients, providers, and suppliers as required.
  • Assists in the development of internal and external communications related to GreenShield drug management strategies.
  • Represents GreenShield in industry peer groups, external presentations, and conferences to reinforce GreenShield's position as a leading Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM).
  • Collaborates with pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers on innovative programs, including outcome-based agreements tying reimbursement to achievement of patient health outcomes.
  • Develop strategies regarding formulary management in cooperation with internal Pharmacy Strategy and Pharmacy Operations teams.
  • Work closely with other business units such as Operations, Sales, Finance, and IT as required.
  • Demonstrates leadership, influence, agility, and accountability to achieve objectives.
  • Model GreenShield's mission, values, and leadership behaviours in all interactions.


WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor's degree in business, pharmacy, life sciences, or healthcare-related field (advanced degree or professional designation an asset)
  • 5+ years' experience in the pharmaceutical sector, with a strong understanding of drug approval, market access, and reimbursement systems in Canada (including private insurance)
  • Proven success in contract and pricing negotiations, with a track record of building strategic partnerships
  • Ability to review and interpret economic evidence and scientific literature to support decision-making
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence at senior levels
  • Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills; able to create financial models in Excel
  • Results-oriented with a history of delivering innovative solutions
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions
  • High personal integrity, accountability, and commitment to delivering results

NICE TO HAVE
  • Bilingual in English and French
  • Experience in group benefits, private health insurance, or pharmacy benefit management
  • Registered Pharmacist license
  • Advanced degree in life sciences, health economics, or experience in health economic modeling
