Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Perfusionist, you will be a vital surgical team member, operating specialized cardiovascular equipment like heart-lung machines during complex procedures, ensuring patient physiological well-being.

Every day you will meticulously monitor and manage a patient's circulatory and respiratory functions, administering blood products/medications, and maintaining precise parameters. You will collaborate closely with the surgical team, making real-time adjustments for patient stability.

To be successful, you need exceptional technical proficiency, a deep understanding of cardiovascular physiology/pharmacology, and the ability to perform calmly under pressure. Your meticulous attention to detail, strong problem-solving, and teamwork are paramount for optimal patient outcomes during life-sustaining interventions.
  • Appropriately assess patient profile and manage CardioPulmonary Bypass (CPB)
  • Use appropriate equipment/supplies and monitor data based on patient profile (age, condition, procedure)
  • Appropriately communicate with open-heart team personnel during procedures
  • Recognize and resolve variances and abnormal situations that may arise
  • Utilize all available safety devices during cardiopulmonary bypass as per departmental policy
  • Demonstrate appropriate clinical vigilance and awareness before, during and after cardiopulmonary bypass
