Performance Improvement Director Position Summary

Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Performance Improvement and Enterprise Transformation, the Director of Performance Improvement leads the ongoing deployment and sustainment of the TidalHealth Operating System and systemwide performance improvement initiatives. The Director provides strategic leadership and oversight to a team of Performance Improvement Consultants and Specialists, guiding the application of Lean, Six Sigma, project management, and other contemporary performance improvement methodologies to improve quality, efficiency, and the effective utilization of labor, supplies, equipment, and space.

The Director oversees systems design, process reengineering, benchmarking, comparative analytics, and the adoption of best practices to identify and achieve measurable performance improvements. They establish and maintain a systematic approach to project selection, prioritization, execution, monitoring, and sustainment, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and long-term results.

The Director also leads organization-wide education and capability development related to the TidalHealth Operating System, Lean, Six Sigma, and other performance improvement tools and methodologies. Through coaching, mentoring, and professional development, the Director builds performance improvement competencies across the organization while developing the skills and effectiveness of Performance Improvement Consultants and Specialists.

Performance Improvement Director Requirements

Education
  • Master's degree in Industrial or Systems Engineering, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or another related field required.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and progressively responsible experience may be considered.

License/Certification
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification required.
  • Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification preferred or must be obtained within three years of employment.
  • Project Management Professional certification or another recognized project management credential preferred.

Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible experience in performance improvement, operational excellence, process redesign, systems engineering, healthcare operations, or a related field.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional improvement initiatives with measurable and sustained results.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience applying Lean Six Sigma Black Belt competencies and providing guidance or oversight for improvement projects.
  • Healthcare performance improvement or healthcare operations experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of formal leadership experience, including responsibility for team member supervision, development, and performance management, preferred.
  • Experience developing organizational improvement capabilities and delivering Lean, Six Sigma, project management, or related training preferred.
