Job PurposeAs the
Perception Team Lead, you will oversee the engineering development of perception systems for use in various agricultural applications like autonomy, sense and act, row guidance, and more.
Key Responsibilities- Architect robust perception systems capable of processing data from cameras, LiDAR, radar, and thermal sensors in real time.
- Develop and maintain computer vision, sensor fusion, and machine learning algorithms.
- Support hardware deployment onto various agricultural platforms.
- Enforce code quality through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Conduct performance reviews, set clear OKRs, and foster continuous professional growth for team members.
- Facilitate daily standups, sprint planning, and agile retrospectives to keep projects on schedule.
- Design for extreme environments, ensuring perception algorithms resist dust, mud, vibration, and shifting lighting.
- Oversee field-testing campaigns to validate system performance in real-world crop conditions and diverse growth stages.
- Establish safety-critical baselines for obstacle detection, collision avoidance, and hazard mitigation in open fields.
- Bridge the gap between digital simulation environments and physical, in-field machinery behavior.
- Partner with hardware teams to select optimal sensors, compute platforms, and mounting locations on vehicles.
- Collaborate with product managers to translate agronomic needs (e.g., weed detection, yield mapping) into technical specifications.
- Interface with vehicle control teams to integrate perception outputs seamlessly into navigation and actuation systems.
- Manage vendor relationships with sensor manufacturers, labeling services, and cloud compute providers.
- Promote and maintain the highest possible environment of teamwork and collaboration.
Experience Required- Master's degree in engineering with 5+ years of engineering experience working with perception systems to solve computer vision problems.
- 5+ years of software development experience with modern C++ (C++14 or newer) and Python.
Preferred Qualifications- Previous leadership experience with teams developing commercial solutions with perception technology.
Pay TransparencyThe annual salary for this role is $137,475 - $210,795 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
For roles open across multiple locations, the salary range indicated refers to the primary location. If a different location is considered, the applicable salary range will be communicated to candidates prior to the first interview.
