PAY RATE: $82,792.50 - $87,150 Per Year

JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE

The Human Resources People Relations Partner Specialist I will join the HR team in providing the needed employee relations experience necessary to maintain ongoing employee and management employee relations needs as well as project support as VOALA continues its growth. This is a hands-on position that will be primarily involved in front-line interaction with program managers and staff • in communications, coaching and relationship building. This is an individual contributor role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Interacting with employees and managers in assigned programs to assist with questions and policy clarification; makes on-site visits to program sites to provide face-to-face HR availability to employees in the work environment
  • Working with program managers to facilitate recruiting and staffing needs
  • Conducting workplace investigations and fielding employee concerns
  • Coaching leaders, managers, and supervisors in policy implementation, performance management, and other HR initiatives
  • Becoming a key part of positioning the HR department as a strategic partner to continuing program and corporate growth and change.
  • Providing training and facilitated workshops in HR Policy, compliance, and best practices in leadership development
  • Is a resource for HR Service team

ESSENTIAL ABILITY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Ability to work and deal with difficult, uncooperative, and potentially aggressive clients as VOALA serves the neediest of the needy in our programs, which may include clients with homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse, recently released from incarceration, and other challenges.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • An essential function of this position requires incumbents to report to the office.
  • Provide employee relations support for assigned programs, answer questions, clarify policy, make on-site visits to provide support in the workplace.
  • Perform workplace interviews and address employee concerns; serve as a liaison between program staff and the HR department.
  • Assist compliance and program audits
  • Perform investigations, written warnings, and documentation of employee relations efforts
  • Review documentation to ensure it is complete and organized
  • Other duties as required and is subject to change at any time.

MANDATED REPORTER

As service providers to the underprivileged and vulnerable in our community, all employees are considered Mandated Reporters, and must report any instance of physical or sexual abuse to proper authorities.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications
  • Valid California driver license and access to dependable transportation with adequate insurance
  • Ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflicts dealing with difficult, uncooperative, and potentially aggressive clients as VOALA serves the neediest of the needy in our programs which may include clients with homelessness, mental-illness, substance abuse, recently released from incarceration and other challenges.

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience (4 years of relevant experience / coursework)

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum three years of HR work, committed 40% of dedicated time handling employee complaints, grievances, interactive processes, and disciplinary actions.
  • Extensive experience with case managing work in a software program
  • Experience with completing comprehensive reports that can be used in legal matters defense
  • Knowledge of California employment regulations
  • Preferred PHR-CA or SHRM-CP
  • Ability to carry a full case load with a minimum amount of direction

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM • SCP, or SHRM-CP
  • Experience with Ulti-Pro a plus
  • Ability to speak and understand Spanish
