About the roleWe are hiring a People Operations Manager to own the operational backbone of our People function as we scale. We are looking for someone who treats People Ops as a craft: someone who builds clean systems, sweats the details, and runs the machine so well that employees and managers rarely have to think about it.
This is a role with real ownership and real room to grow. You will take programs that exist but need sharpening and make them your own, with the autonomy to redesign and run them. You will partner closely with the Head of People. As Sydecar scales, this role scales with it.
What you will own- Onboarding and offboarding. Own the full new-hire experience from offer acceptance through the first 90 days, and run a smooth, compliant offboarding process. Continuously improve both based on feedback and what breaks as we scale.
- HRIS and systems. Own our HRIS and People tech stack (we run Rippling & Lattice) as the source of truth. Keep data clean, build and maintain workflows, and make our systems do more of the work.
- Performance and review cycles. Help run our performance review and check-in cycles: timelines, communications, manager enablement, and the operational mechanics that make a cycle land on time.
- Benefits and leave. Administer benefits, leave, and accommodations.
- Compliance. Support day-to-day HR compliance, handbook maintenance, and staying current on employment law basics.
- Employee experience. Be a first point of contact for employee questions across the lifecycle. Triage employee relations issues with good judgment, handling what you can and escalating what you should.
What we are looking for- 3 to 5 years in People Operations or HR
- Experience working in a startup or other fast-growing environment is a must
- An operator's instinct: you like building and improving processes, and you can point to a workflow, onboarding flow, or system you helped make better and tell us what you changed
- Hands-on experience with an HRIS or People tech stack; familiarity with Rippling & Lattice is a plus
- Good judgment on sensitive and confidential matters, with a sense of when to handle something directly versus loop in your manager
- Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to figure things out
- Strong organization, follow-through, and written communication
- A desire to grow into broader People Ops ownership over time
Nice to have- Experience in a high-growth fintech, financial services, or other regulated environment
- Familiarity with our tech stack, Rippling, Ashby or comparable ATS, Notion, and various AI tools
- Exposure to People programs like leveling, comp cycles, or engagement surveys
Why this roleYou will own meaningful work from day one and have a clear path to grow into broader ownership of the People Ops function. You will join a small, senior, trusted People team at a company that takes culture seriously, and you will have the autonomy to build People Ops the way it should be built.
