About The RoleThe People Operations Generalist supports a broad range of employee lifecycle, total rewards, talent, engagement, and performance initiatives across Flock Freight. This role serves as a trusted partner to employees and business leaders, ensuring accurate and compliant processes while delivering an exceptional employee experience. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, discreet, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. They bring strong communication and judgment, proficiency with HR systems and data tools, and a continuous improvement mindset to streamline and strengthen People processes.
This role is ideal for an early-career HR professional who is eager to build hands-on experience in benefits and leave administration, recruiting support, onboarding, compliance, HRIS/data maintenance, and general HR operations.
Core Responsibilities- Manage all leaves of absence by following the interactive process, including intake, documentation, tracking, follow-up, approval, and implementation.
- Administer leave and accommodation processes in accordance with established policies and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
- Contribute to the administration of company health and wellness programs, including but not limited to open enrollment tasks, monthly benefits reporting and auditing, and assisting employees with benefit-related questions.
- Collaborate on compensation projects
- Provide recruitment support as needed (e.g., sourcing, candidate communication, scheduling, greeting for interviews)
- Participate in the new hire onboarding process to ensure a seamless and positive experience for new employees.
- Process voluntary terminations and related offboarding tasks.
- Process employment verification requests in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of employee data in our HRIS (UKG) and run reports as needed.
- Provide support for compensation-related reporting and compliance activities, including EEO-1 data reporting.
- Help coordinate HR and wellness programs, employee communications, engagement and training initiatives.
- Build strong partnerships across the People team and with cross-functional partners to ensure effective collaboration.
- Support and lead change management efforts within the organization as needed.
- Assess opportunities and areas of development within the business and make solutions-based recommendations (e.g., policies and procedures, training needs, recognition, wellness programs).
- Maintain employee personnel files and ensure all HR records comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations related to HR matters.
- Support special projects such as all-hands materials, company social events, and other People team initiatives.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of human resources experience.
- At least 1 year of experience with leave administration.
- Passion for creating a fun, inclusive, and engaging employee experience.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to make informed recommendations.
- Experience using HR technology and AI tools to streamline workflows, improve data quality, and drive process efficiencies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels and with third-party vendors.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and independently execute established processes while seeking guidance on complex or unfamiliar situations.
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills and experience with HRIS and/or ATS platforms (UKG experience preferred).
CompensationThe base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 per year. This reflects typical earning potential in this role based on market data and individual factors including skill sets, experience, and geographic location. In addition to salary, full-time employees are eligible for an equity package and competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Flock Freight.
