The opportunityWe are currently seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join our People Advisory Services - Mobility Tax practice. Our People Advisory Services practice (PAS) provides high-quality compliance and advisory solutions to help our clients drive organizational success through human capital. Our practice is one of the world's largest and has talented and innovative professionals dedicated to teamwork and exceptional client service. People Advisory Services encompasses Mobility, Global Employment Tax Services, Total Rewards, HR Performance Improvement and Immigration services.
Using cutting-edge technology and working with team-oriented colleagues, the successful candidate will be responsible for securing and analyzing client tax data used in the preparation and/or review of tax compliance products. The Mobility Tax services include Canadian and US personal income tax, compliance and advisory services; mobility policy design; executive compensation advice; employer tax advice; and global coordination. You'll be part of a team with a wide variety of experiences and a supportive environment.
Your key responsibilities- Interface with clients and colleagues, located throughout the world, by phone and in person
- Analyze client tax data to determine appropriate and optimal Canadian and US filing positions, and to provide tax planning advice to clients
- Review US and Canadian personal income tax returns
- Advise clients on the tax implications of working in another tax jurisdiction
- Seek increased revenue through both existing and new client relationships. Represent EY at external networking events
- Tax technical research to support both compliance and advisory deliverables
- Contribute to the national education program by preparing and/or delivering tax technical material
- Leverage technology to maximize productivity
- Manage the financials of client accounts by developing budgets, determining resource requirements, timely
- invoicing and appropriate revenue recognition
- Be responsible for leading and managing mobility engagements and business development efforts relating to Mobility other People Advisory Services.
- Develop and innovate new service offerings
- Manage and contribute to the attainment of group and individual goals by sharing knowledge, monitoring engagement and team performance, providing guidance and productive feedback, and facilitating teamwork
- Contribute to a flexible, stable, and team-oriented working culture that fosters personal development and a positive attitude
- Provide guidance to more junior colleagues on both tax technical and performance management skills
- Identify opportunities for EY's Mobility - People Advisory Service and other special services
Skills and attributes for success- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to share knowledge and motivate team as well as initiative to stay abreast of current trends and technical advancements
- Sound professional judgement and high level of professionalism
- Ability to innovate to adapt to the market.
Ideally, you'll also have- A bachelor's degree in in accounting, finance, or a related field
- U.S. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential, either obtained or currently in progress
- Minimum of seven (7) years of US and/or Canadian personal income tax experience
- Knowledge of current automated tax processing systems and tax laws in an area of technical specialization as well as the ability to interpret actuarial concepts and results in the business context
- A commitment to learning in a tax technical environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and Visio

EY reports salary ranges in accordance with applicable provincial pay transparency legislation. Individual salaries within the anticipated salary ranges noted below are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skill sets.
- British Columbia: $128,000 to $178,000
