Pension & Benefits Advisor

ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for a Pension & Benefits Advisor to join our Total Rewards Team. Reporting to the Director, Compensation & Total Rewards, the Advisor, Pension & Benefits is responsible for the administration of our pensions and group benefits for unionized employees, retirees, and non-union populations based in Canada and the U.S.

This role is based out of our downtown Calgary head office. This is a full-time, hybrid role.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Administer day-to-day processes for employee benefit programs in alignment with plan documents and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate and validate data shared with partners and providers to ensure accuracy of member coverage and associated premiums and deductions
  • Provide exceptional customer service and guidance to employees and HR partners regarding pension and benefits programs, policies, and procedures
  • Keep plans compliant with legislation, internal policies, collective agreements, and contract requirements
  • Maintain robust documentation and filing systems to facilitate legislated filings and audit processes
  • Support and enable strong vendor performance and contract adherence, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement and simplification initiatives
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Labour Relations, Payroll, and third-party vendors to resolve pension and benefit matters
  • Participate in end-to-end annual benefits enrolment cycles including communication, testing, auditing, and issue resolution
  • Safeguard employee privacy and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information


ABOUT YOU

  • Minimum five (5) years of related benefits administration experience, preferably in a complex, multi-plan and/or multi-jurisdictional environment
  • Comprehensive pension and group benefits experience including plan administration, employee support, vendor management, invoicing and reconciliations, and issue resolution
  • Strong working knowledge of pension and benefits legislation
  • Effective communication skills with internal/external stakeholders
  • Highly organized and able to juggle priorities and tight deadlines
  • Exceptional customer focus with strong professional acumen
  • Sound analytical skills with demonstrated attention to detail
  • Experience administering pension and benefits plans for U.S.-based employees is an asset
