Full Job Description
Responsibilities

  • Direct the activities of medical and other personnel engaged in rendering medical or surgical treatments to patients.
  • Examine patients to provide information on medical condition and surgical risk.
  • Follow established surgical techniques during the operation consistent with the accepted standards of care.
  • Contribute to the planning, coordination and compliance with hospital policies and departmental policies.
  • Participate in surgical residency education.
  • Provide consultative and advisory services to clinicians as requested.
  • Maintain necessary and appropriate documentation for all services provided in compliance with regulatory and hospital policies.
  • Provide on call and/or clinic coverage as requested by Chairperson of the Department of Surgery.
  • Participate in scholarly activity and research.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About the Team

St. Joseph's University Medical Center is an academic tertiary care medical center and state designated trauma center, located on the Paterson campus, regularly accepts referrals of difficult or unusual cases from other hospitals and physicians and performs both complex and routine procedures.

The Medical Center offers a full complement of specialty and subspecialty services including ambulatory, behavioral health, cardiovascular, emergency/trauma, internal medicine, neuroscience, oncology, orthopedic/spine, rehabilitation, surgical specialty, women's health, imaging and pediatrics.
