Job Summary:
Join the User Services team within the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Information Technology (DoIT). User Services delivers frontline technology support, endpoint services, productivity solutions, and customer-focused IT services that enable teaching, learning, research, and administration across the university.

In this role, you will architect, deploy, and maintain our secure M365 tenant to meet compliance requirements in support of campus research. You will also lead operational support, collaborate with campus stakeholders to refine service delivery, and deliver high-touch, customer-focused technology solutions. You will also assist in the support and management of other campus services.

The candidate selected for this position may perform a combination of on-site and remote work subject to an approved flexible work arrangement (FWA), which is reviewed and approved annually. Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee. This position is expected to work 20% onsite and 80% remote.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Serves as the main expert point of contact with external stakeholders, leadership, vendors, peer institutions, and IT partners regarding high-level system integrations. Identifies needs, provides solution options and strategic direction, and communicates issue updates and resolutions
  • Plans and directs staff implementation of complex enterprise technical projects
  • Integrates, designs, reviews, troubleshoots, monitors, and resolves highly complex, strategically significant, and innovative enterprise-wide supported services, systems, networks, and application problems according to established processes and procedures
  • Designs large components and/or coordinates the running, maintaining, and operating of technical systems and infrastructure
  • Maintains documentation on the system security plan (SSP), including updating documentation as needed for changes that impact the SSP.
  • Researches, consults, prototypes, and develops new and advanced standards-based technology initiatives and problem resolution across multiple systems
  • Produces and gathers evidence as needed for meeting assessor requirements.

User Services offers client-centered services to support the academic, administrative, and research needs of the campus community. We provide a wide range of consultation and user support services for campus clients through our Help Desk, InfoLabs, Product Management and Departmental Support services. We also provide and support enterprise Software as a Service (SaaS) applications to enable and enhance collaboration and communications among the UW- Madison campus community.

PCS specializes in technologies that enable individuals and organizations to work more efficiently and effectively. Core services include Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, chat, personal document storage, email lists, and surveys. Work products include system acquisition and implementation, technical architecture and design, application integration, custom software development, consulting, project management, and support of production enterprise system environments.

Compensation:
Starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications. Well qualified applicants can anticipate to earn between $115,000 - $140,000, with final salary based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
  • Candidates must be U.S. citizens
  • Demonstrated experience implementing, assessing, or supporting compliance with cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Experience managing end-to-end SaaS security, including identity & access management (IAM), endpoint defense, vulnerability assessments, continuous monitoring, encryption, and incident response.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and reviewing security policies, procedures, system security plans (SSPs), plans of action and milestones (POA&Ms), and audit evidence to support compliance assessments.
  • Experience identifying security risks, evaluating control effectiveness, and coordinating remediation activities across technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience administering or supporting enterprise technologies such as Microsoft 365, Windows systems, cloud platforms, identity services, endpoint management solutions, or security tools used in regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating technical security requirements to non-technical audiences and partner effectively with IT teams, leadership, vendors, and external assessors.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview for compliance and governance functions (e.g., Information Protection, DLP, Compliance Manager, audit logging) to support SSP, POA&M, and audit-evidence requirements.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing a cloud-based endpoint management platform, such as Microsoft Intune, including device compliance policies and configuration baselines in a regulated environment.
  • Hands-on experience administering an identity platform, such as Microsoft Entra ID, including conditional access, privileged identity management, and MFA enforcement, or an equivalent identity provider.
  • Professional experience in supporting these tools in a regulated environment (for example, HIPAA or FISMA)
