Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC) is an award-winning program that provides free legal support to people and communities facing barriers to justice, with chapters in 22 law schools coast-to-coast. For nearly three decades, PBSC has been designing high-quality legal placements and training law student volunteers to help marginalized Canadians address their essential legal needs.

Reporting to the National Director, the PBSC Program Manager is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing National Office projects, with a focus on legal initiatives in various areas of law, particularly family law, as well as non-legal projects and events. This may involve the development and oversight of established undertakings, or working with the National Director on the creation of projects and then overseeing the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the program or initiative. The Program Manager also provides assistance and support with all other aspects of PBSC's programming, as required.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and implementing project phases
  • Planning and implementing workflow for a group
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Reviewing and assessing requirements needed to meet project timelines
  • Checking that assigned work completed meets expected standards
  • Directing a small group in a limited area, including responsibility for scheduling and/or workflow


Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum five years of directly related experience administering/delivering access to justice programming to support low-income individuals, facilitating experiential programming for post-secondary students, and/or working within/adjacent to the legal profession (ideally in the field of family law).
  • Experience researching, developing, and maintaining multi-faceted legal projects.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of the legal field, including legal processes, professional regulation, and the ethical and professional obligations that govern legal practice.
  • Experience drafting comprehensive, multi-year project plans, proposals, and reports.
  • Experience developing and delivering training programs and materials.
  • Experience planning and executing all aspects of in-person and virtual professional events.
  • Knowledge of family law principles and practice in Ontario.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and motivate staff, students, and partners including members of the legal profession.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, self-starter.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Canada.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.


Assets (Nonessential):
  • Law degree (LLB or JD) would be considered an asset
  • Fluency in French would be considered an asset
