Full Job Description
SUMMARY
The Payroll Manager will oversee and execute accurate, compliant, and timely weekly payroll processing for over 6,000 team members across 18 states, with continued expansion into new markets. This role partners closely with another Payroll Manager to ensure smooth payroll operations, compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and continuous improvement of payroll processes.

The Payroll Manager will also support acquisitions, lead payroll-related projects, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, tools, and best practices to drive efficiency and compliance.

We are realigning tasks and reworking processes to create a more streamlined flow, as well as automating as possible. Support will be needed on all projects from planning, designing, troubleshooting and implementation. On going maintenance in these areas may be required. These areas include, but are not limited to, unemployment processing, benefit time allocation, union dues deductions / remittance, weekly /monthly reconciliation of items connected to payroll deductions and more

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Payroll Processing & Oversight:
  • Perform and oversee weekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable laws.
  • Complete daily payroll system tasks to support smooth processing and proactively identify issues or discrepancies.
  • Import pay data into Enterprise and Etime systems.
  • Maintain and process garnishments using ADP Full Service, including responding to garnishment and subpoena requests.

Audit, Compliance & Regulatory Management:
  • Create and run audit reports to identify potential payroll issues, errors, or year-end processing concerns.
  • Ensure maximum compliance with local, state, and federal payroll laws and regulations.
  • Open new tax filing jurisdictions as required for expanding operations.

Reporting & Data Management:
  • Generate detailed payroll reports for the CFO, VP of Finance, and Human Resources leadership.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to meet audit and compliance standards.

Manager Support & Employee Service:
  • Support managers with Etime system tasks, troubleshooting access issues, and answering payroll-related questions.
  • Provide responsive and accurate assistance to employees regarding payroll matters.

Accounting & Financial Transactions:
  • Perform payroll-related accounting tasks in Great Plains, including recording journal entries for tax transactions, stale-dated checks, and other payroll adjustments.
  • Import payroll journal entries into the accounting system.
  • Update cash flow records for direct deposit rejects, payroll liabilities, 401(k) transfers, and other recorded entries.

Project & Acquisition Support:
  • Collaborate with the payroll team to support acquisitions, integrations, and related payroll transition activities.
  • Participate in payroll-related projects that improve processes, systems, and efficiency

Continuous Improvement & Industry Knowledge:
  • Stay informed on payroll industry standards, emerging tools, and regulatory changes.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

This role offers a salary of $110,000 annually, based on skills, experience, and location. Employees also receive a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, generous PTO, and paid holidays.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER DETAILS

Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time exempt position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. As an exempt position, it is expected that Team Member will devote whatever time necessary to accomplish the goals and responsibilities. This will often require extended work hours, evening, and/or weekend work.

Travel Requirements:

Some travel may be required. If required, it is typically confined to day trips in the region.
