Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Senior Payroll Administrator to serve as a key subject matter expert supporting end-to-end payroll operations for our Canadian workforce.

This role is critical to ensuring payroll accuracy, legislative compliance, operational efficiency, and continuous process improvement across a multi-province employee population.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
  • End-to-End Payroll processing.
  • Lead the import, validation, balancing, and transmission of bi-weekly payroll for 2,000+ multi-province employees
  • Perform gross-to-net calculations, reconciliations, and payroll audits to ensure complete accuracy and compliance
  • Analyze payroll and general ledger data, investigate variances, and support reconciliation processes
  • Provide compliance and legislative expertise
  • Calculate overtime, statutory holiday pay, and other earnings in accordance with provincial employment standards
  • Prepare and submit statutory remittances and filings
  • Produce Records of Employment (ROEs) and support compliance audits as required
  • Support year-end activities, including T4 preparation, reconciliations, and government reporting
  • Provide Employee & Case Management support
  • Process employee lifecycle transactions including new hires, terminations, leaves, status changes, and compensation updates
  • Manage payroll inquiries and escalations, providing clear, timely, and professional responses
  • Administer changes related to RRSP, TFSA, benefits, and banking
  • Review and validate HRIS integrations and inbound payroll files
  • Support payroll process enhancements, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with internal partners and external vendors to resolve system and data challenges

What you will bring to the team:
  • 5+ years of experience in a multi-jurisdictional Canadian payroll environment (required)
  • Proven experience processing payrolls of over 1,000+ employees) (required)
  • Canadian Payroll Association certification (PCP or CPM) or actively working toward completion
  • Diploma in Business, Accounting or a related field (asset)
  • Technical & Analytical Skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (analysis, reconciliations, reporting)
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP payroll and/or ADP GlobalView
  • Solid understanding of Canadian employment standards, statutory deductions, and HR policies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal skills

The salary range for this position is $31.95 - $53.25. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
