DescriptionPayroll Accountant which plays an important role within the Accounting and Finance organization in ensuring seamless payroll operations across assigned pay cycles-from day-to-day processing to off-cycle runs. You'll be the go-to person for delivering accurate, timely payroll while maintaining compliance across taxes, PTO, and leave records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in Costpoint, ADP, and California payroll regulations.
Location: San Francisco, CA
Key Responsibilities:- Payroll and Tax
- Process regular and off-cycle payrolls, including auditing, reporting, and filing with a high degree of accuracy.
Handle calculations such as overtime, shift differentials, and other specialized pay structures. - Accurately apply union agreements and pay rules.
- Ensure compliance with California payroll regulations, also federal, state, local wage and hour laws.
- Research, reconcile, and support payroll tax compliance, including complex and multi-jurisdictional taxation scenarios.
- Enter payroll JE into CostPoint accounting system, and make additional JE as needed during month-end reconciliation.
- Highly organized and dependable, with strong technical skills (spreadsheets/databases), sound judgment, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple priorities from start to finish.
- Provide responsive, confidential support to employees and stakeholders on payroll, tax, and leave-related inquiries while maintaining thorough documentation.
Minimum Requirements- 5+ years of payroll experience in a GovCon environment with a solid understanding of California regulations, Union payroll rules, and SCA pay requirements.
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint, ADP Workforce Now, and ADP Workforce Manager
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have prior payroll accounting/payroll journal entry experience with Union and SCA.
- Have experience processing large payrolls (900+ employees) in California and be familiar with the rules and regulations in that state.
- Ability to manage tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
Preferred Qualifications- Professional certification such as APA Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
- Ability to work on-site with flexibility for hybrid scheduling
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with Excel.
Compensation Range: - The anticipated salary range the Employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is $85,000 - $100,000 annually
