The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Patient Access has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Patient Access Optimization Consultant (H) to work in Miami, FL. supporting operational performance through technology, process redesign, analytics, and change management. The Patient Access Optimization Consultant partners closely with operational, clinical, revenue cycle, IT, digital health, and leadership teams to identify opportunities, develop scalable solutions, support system implementations, and promote adoption of patient access to best practices across the health system.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Provides consultative support to patient access leaders and operational teams to improve access workflows, scheduling processes, registration accuracy, and front-end operational performance.
  • Supports enterprise-wide patient access optimization initiatives focused on improving patient throughput, access to care, appointment availability, and the overall patient experience.
  • Assesses operational barriers impacting patient access and collaborates with stakeholders to develop sustainable solutions that improve productivity, patient satisfaction, and revenue cycle outcomes.
  • Analyzes operational data, key performance indicators, dashboards, and workflow trends to identify opportunities and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Develops, documents, and supports implementation of standardized workflows across ambulatory, procedural, specialty, and hospital-based settings.
  • Partners with operational leaders to improve scheduling accuracy, provider template utilization, appointment capacity management, and related access standards.
  • Supports patient access projects from planning through implementation, including project plans, timelines, communication materials, training plans, readiness activities, and adoption monitoring.
  • Coordinates multidisciplinary workgroups, meetings, and stakeholder discussions to promote alignment, decision-making, and successful change adoption.
  • Serves as a subject matter resource for patient access transformation initiatives, including scheduling, registration, financial clearance, digital access, and workflow redesign efforts.
  • Supports technology initiatives related to patient access, including Epic optimization, CRM and patient engagement tools, digital check-in, self-service solutions, and workflow automation.
  • Participates in design sessions, workflow validation, testing, user acceptance testing, operational readiness activities, go-live support, and stabilization for patient access systems and process changes.
  • Collaborates with Revenue Cycle, Central Insurance Verification, Preauthorization, Financial Clearance, and Patient Financial Services teams to improve front-end financial workflows and reduce downstream issues.
  • Facilitates performance improvement initiatives using process improvement and change management methodologies to enhance operational efficiency and patient access outcomes.
  • Prepares recommendations, presentations, reports, and implementation materials for leaders and stakeholders related to patient access performance, process improvement, and operational optimization.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
