Qualifications

  • Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from a NAACLS accredited institution.
  • Baccalaureate degree in biology (or biological sciences) preferred.
  • Completion of a NAACLS accredited pathologists' assistant program preferred.
  • American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) certification or eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Pathologist with surgical pathology duties.
  • Perform frozen section examinations as required.
  • Conduct autopsies under supervision of a Pathologist.
  • Prepare surgical pathology specimens for analysis.
  • Complete examinations and documentation with minimal supervision.

Short DescriptionAssist Pathologist in surgical pathology, frozen sections and autopsies. Work without immediate supervision when performing professional duties associated with the preparation, performance and completion of examination and/or preparations of surgical pathology specimens.  Experience Required

Education Requirements

Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from a NAACLS accredited institution.

 

Baccalaureate degree in biology (or biological sciences) preferred.

 

Completion of a NAACLS accredited pathologists' asst. program preferred.

License/Certification Requirements

American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or eligible preferred.
