Full Job Description
Foley Hoag's Intellectual Property Department has an opening for a Patent Agent or Technology Specialist with a background in computer science, electrical and computer engineering, or related fields and at least three years of patent prosecution experience. The candidate may be located in any of our US offices - New York, Boston, DC, or Denver.

We seek applicants with strong academic credentials and excellent verbal and written communication skills. The position will involve representation of a variety of technology companies, ranging from startups to the Fortune 500, in patent prosecution matters.

At least an M.S. or M.Eng. in a relevant field, or equivalent industry experience, is preferred.

A successful candidate who is not a registered patent agent will be expected to take and to pass the USPTO registration exam within one year of being hired. Candidates are encouraged to review the USPTO eligibility criteria prior to applying.

We staff our clients' patent matters leanly, affording patent professionals an opportunity for significant responsibility and excellent career development. They typically work one-on-one with associates and partners, gain a depth of experience in a broad range of patent strategy, drafting, prosecution and diligence matters, and get immediate client contact. Such experience has contributed to the firm's consistently excellent rankings in various national satisfaction surveys and industry recognition lists.

The salary of the candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, specialty, and training. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the firm's reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

At Foley Hoag, we welcome, develop, and celebrate talented and diverse individuals in an innovative, mutually respectful, and intellectually rigorous community, and bring unique perspectives to collaborative teams that deliver exceptional advice and craft bespoke legal solutions for our clients and our world.
