Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Patent Agent to join our Prosecution & Counseling department. This role is ideal for a current Patent Agent with a strong scientific background who is interested in applying their expertise to intellectual property strategy, patent preparation, and prosecution for cutting-edge life sciences clients. This position can be based in our Boston, New York, Washington, DC offices, or fully remote.

Patent agents with at least two (2+) years of law firm experience will be considered.

Responsibilities include:
  • Draft, file, and prosecute high-quality patent applications
  • Prepare responses to U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) office actions
  • Conduct examiner interviews and perform freedom to operate analyses
  • Conduct scientific, technical and legal research to support prosecution and portfolio strategy


Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, bioengineering, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, cancer biology, pharmacology, biophysics, or a related field of study
  • Admission to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required
  • Minimum of two (2+) years of law firm patent preparation and prosecution experience
  • Sound judgment, maturity, and an inquisitive nature with a strong work ethic paired with the ability to juggle multiple job responsibilities
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with business leaders, attorneys, scientists, engineers, inventors, and patent examiners
  • A demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional client service, and a creative and strategic approach to prosecution

The expected salary range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000 annually. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
