Job Description

The Partnership Tax Manager will own and coordinate the day-to-day partnership tax operating model, including compliance, tax accounting and financial reporting support, data and document administration, controls, and external advisor relationships. The successful candidate will manage multiple entities, filings, reporting cycles, and stakeholders at once while maintaining accuracy, meeting deadlines, and improving scalable processes. This individual will serve as a technical resource on partnership tax matters and a dependable project manager who can translate requirements into clear workplans, coordinate dependencies, identify risks, and drive deliverables to completion.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Own the annual and quarterly partnership tax calendar, including notices, extensions, estimates, filing deadlines, review milestones, and required internal approvals.
  • Manage and review U.S. partnership tax compliance, including Forms 1065, Schedules K-1, partner statements, state and local filings, composite and withholding filings, and related information returns.
  • Oversee high-volume data collection, validation, workpaper preparation, review, and retention for a broad portfolio of partnerships and related entities.
  • Review partnership allocations, basis and capital account activity, contributions, distributions, debt, ownership changes, and other items affecting partner reporting and tax compliance.
  • Coordinate with accounting, controllership, finance, legal, business units, and external tax advisors to resolve data gaps, technical issues, and filing or reporting exceptions.
  • Support quarterly and year-end tax accounting and financial reporting, including tax provision calculations, current and deferred tax analyses, reconciliations, uncertain tax positions, effective tax rate support, and tax account rollforwards.
  • Maintain accurate entity, partner, ownership, tax attribute, notice, and filing records, and administer tax compliance and workflow systems in accordance with department controls.
  • Manage relationships with external accounting firms and other service providers, including scope, deliverables, budgets, issue resolution, quality review, and performance against deadlines.
  • Respond to tax notices and support federal, state, local, and other tax audits, including information requests, documentation, workpaper support, and coordination of responses.
  • Support M&A and tax planning projects involving partnership matters.
  • Lead partnership tax projects such as process redesign, system implementations, entity onboarding, regulatory changes, tax technology improvements, and remediation initiatives.


Qualifications

  • 7+ years of partnership tax experience in public accounting and/or a complex, multi-entity corporate environment; experience in a high-volume function strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA required or strongly preferred. MST, JD, or equivalent advanced tax education is a plus.
  • Strong technical experience with partnership taxation, including Form 1065, Schedule K-1 reporting, allocations, basis, capital accounts, debt, and partner transactions.
  • Working knowledge of tax accounting and financial reporting, including ASC 740 and/or IFRS tax reporting, reconciliations, provision support, and audit documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage recurring compliance and reporting cycles across many entities, prioritize deadlines, and maintain high-quality work product under pressure.
  • Proven project management skills, including planning, scheduling, stakeholder coordination, status communication, risk identification, issue resolution, and delivery of process improvements.
  • Advanced Excel and strong data-management skills; experience with tax compliance, tax provision, ERP, workflow, or document-management systems preferred.
  • Experience supervising or reviewing the work of staff and coordinating external advisors, with a commitment to coaching and quality control.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical tax matters clearly to non-tax stakeholders.

Success in this position requires the ability to operate with accuracy, urgency, and sound judgment in a high-volume environment. The Partnership Tax Manager must build trusted relationships with business units, finance, accounting, legal, external advisors, peers, and management while demonstrating accountability, professionalism, and a practical, solutions-oriented approach.

  • This role is based in the New York City office and follows a hybrid work schedule requiring in-office work at least two days per week. The work arrangement is subject to change based on business needs.


Additional Information

The salary for this position is $115,000 - $125,000. This position is bonus eligible.
