THE POSITION:The Paralegal (Senior) provides paralegal services and has expertise in and the responsibility for a specific area of the law. Incumbents may act in a lead capacity by training, assigning and reviewing the work of other Paralegals and/or other new employees, and may direct subordinate clerical or accounting staff.
The position is allocated in multiple departments, the current opening is in the District Attorney's Office.
The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill part-time and full-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur throughout the County.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Education and Experience: Three (3) years of full-time work experience in preparing and processing legal documents, including eighteen (18) months of experience as a paralegal in a governmental agency that demonstrates possession of and competency in the requisite knowledge and abilities.
And one of the following:- A certificate of completion of a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association (a copy of your certificate must be submitted by the final filing deadline - see document submittal requirements). -OR-
- A certificate of completion of a paralegal program at, or a degree from, a postsecondary institution that requires the successful completion of a minimum of 24 semester, or equivalent, units in law-related courses and that has been accredited by a national or regional accrediting organization or approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education (a copy of your certificate or degree/unofficial or official transcripts must be submitted by the final filing deadline - see document submittal requirements). -OR-
- A baccalaureate degree or an advanced degree in any subject and a minimum of one year of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney who has been an active member of the State Bar of California for at least the preceding three years or who has practiced in the federal courts of this state for at least the preceding three years, and a written declaration from this attorney stating that the person is qualified to perform paralegal tasks (a copy of your degree/ unofficial or official transcripts must be submitted by the final filing deadline - see document submittal requirements).
