Kennedys, a global law firm with offices throughout the US, seeks a full-time Paralegal with 5+ years of solid insurance litigation experience related to NY law to join our team in our New York City Office. This is a really exciting opportunity for an ambitious paralegal to join a growing, global law firm.
Key Responsibilities - Ability to review/analyze and summarize medical records and add relevant dates/information to the medical chronology
- Prepare answers to Discovery with client contact
- Prepare discovery motions (Motions to Extend Discovery, Motion to Compel Discovery and Motion Dismiss Complaint for Plaintiff's Failure to Provide Discovery)
- Experience reviewing Plaintiff's Answers to Interrogatories
- Schedule and coordinate IME's for plaintiff
- Research (Westlaw preferred) and other online sources
- Assist in retention of experts with experience in dealing with outside vendors
- Prepare HIPPA Authorization Forms for Plaintiff's execution and return
- Retrieval of medical records from providers and Third-Party vendors
- Follow-up with providers to ensure receipt of records of HIPPA request
- Perform Jury Verdict Searches using Westlaw
- Preparation of appeals, motions and privilege logs
- Production of documents
- Shepardizing [blue booking] cases
Our ideal candidate should have - 5+ years of relevant experience [Insurance Defense Litigation]
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Thorough working knowledge of and experience working the Federal and New York court system
- Experience drafting and entering time entries
- Experience with Westlaw
- Paralegal Certificate from an ABA accredited program preferred or relevant years of experience.
The annualized salary range for this role is $75,000-$90,000. However, this is contingent upon level of experience, practice group, location and other job-related factors permitted by law.
