What You'll Do

Work as a professional assistant in the department aligned to more than one business (work) area. Specific work areas may include: Investments (residential, commercial and/or securities); Corporate; Legislative/Regulatory; Products (group, individual, pension); Debtor/Creditor; Tax; Exam coordination; and Governmental compliance.
  • Manage highly complex, large projects a high degree of independence and initiative to include project planning, setting objectives, and ensuring goal attainment. Set and approve guidelines and procedures, direct negotiations, advance strategies, and promote alternative solutions for clients, outside counsel, insurance departments, courts, and other government departments.
  • Perform a wide variety of complex legal and/or legislative research and analyze legislation, regulations, laws, statutes and/or administrative rules and apprise department lawyers, clients, outside counsel, and court.
  • Draft highly complex legal and or legislative/regulatory memorandum, documents, and forms to fully respond to various legal/legislative issues and develop systems policies and procedures for the department or the company.
  • Share knowledge/expertise with others in specific work areas as well as managing more than one area's flow. Develop and monitor training objectives and plans.
  • Create, organize, and maintain various systems and procedures used in the department and contribute and maintain procedural and substantive manuals for the department's clients.
  • Perform other job related duties and special projects as required.

Who You Are

  • Requires Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus a minimum of 8+ years related legal and/or legislative/regulatory experience. Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Requires broad expertise in more than one area of the law
  • Must have extensive knowledge of relevant state and federal statutes, regulations, and case law
  • Must have ability to transfer skills and work independently in other areas of the department
  • Requires excellent legal/legislative research and project management skills
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills required


Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

$33.32 - $60.58 / hour

Des Moines, IA / Louisville, KY / Green Bay, WI: $73,150 - $99,750/year
St. Louis, MO / Pittsburgh, PA / Charlotte, NC: $77,000 - $105,000/year
Denver, CO / Houston, TX / Chicago, IL / Minneapolis, MN: $84,700 - $115,500/year
Seattle, WA / Los Angeles, CA / New York City, NY: $92,400 - $126,000/year

Time Off Program

Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness.
