JOB OVERVIEWThe Sr. Manager of Corporate Planning & Design is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and strategic implementation of residential projects across multiple developments. This role combines corporate-level planning with the execution of design strategies, ensuring that home designs meet market needs, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages all Corporate P&D initiatives including plan simplification, new product research/development and other company goals/programs.
- Maintain/update/enforce all National Design standards.
- Problem-solving with Product Managers on division-specific design/technical challenges.
- Responsible for communication between Corporate P&D and division Operations teams.
- Lead monthly P&D calls with all corporate and division employees.
- Assist in the review of new product requests and plan change requests by divisions.
- Coordinates with Division and Corporate design team on workload and resource needs.
- Coordinates with team in creating, reviewing and updating department processes.
- Standardizes plan production operations, systems and guidelines throughout the department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- College degree from accredited institution in related construction/deign field and ten years of progressive experience preferably with hands on field experience in residential construction with a production builder
- Typically requires a bachelor's degree and 10 or more years of experience. An advanced degree may be preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Possesses proven cost-effective design talent and has a keen eye for technical detail.
- Thorough knowledge of residential construction, general code requirements, and design preferences throughout the region and divisions assigned.
- Understands use and applications of CAD drafting software and related computer operations.
- Proficiency in e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, and related computer communication operations.
- Ability to prepare and conduct effective public presentations.
- Ability to exercise leadership sensibly and effectively.
Physical Requirements
This position is primarily office-based, operating in a professional and climate-controlled environment. The majority of work is performed on a computer, requiring prolonged periods of sitting, typing, and viewing a screen. The work environment is generally quiet with minimal exposure to noise, hazards, or extreme temperatures. This position requires the ability to maintain focus and productivity in a desk-based setting, with occasional movement throughout the office for meetings or collaborative tasks.
