The Role:

Moderna is seeking an Operational Technology (OT) Response Engineer to strengthen our enterprise defense and incident response capabilities with a focus on protecting and responding to threats across OT environments.  

This role brings together incident response expertise and OT Cybersecurity, centered on protecting the systems that monitor, control, and support critical manufacturing operations. This position will sit on the Cybersecurity Incident Response team and collaborate across Cybersecurity teams and OT-related teams all while supporting containment and response actions that account for the unique constraints of industrial systems.   

The ideal candidate will combine incident response expertise with a deep technical understanding of OT environments and OT-specific threats. They will be skilled at balancing cyber incidents with operational continuity in mind, ensuring that response activities are practical, timely and aligned with the appropriate cross-functional partners to help keep Moderna secure. 

Here’s What You’ll Do

Incident Response & Investigation 

  • Strong understanding of incident response processes, including triage, containment, eradication, recovery and post-incident review. 

  • Experience investigating security alerts, related to malware, endpoint threats, identity based attacks, etc.  

  • Hands-on experience with security tools such as Splunk SIEM, Nozomi, CrowdStrike Falcon 

  • Understanding of regulatory concerns in an OT environment 

  • Experience coordinating response efforts across multiple teams, like cybersecurity, OT, and IT teams 

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly summarize technical findings, business impact, and necessary response actions 

  • Knowledge of OT-specific threats 

  • Comfortable investigating security events by analyzing alerts and digging into logs about network traffic and system behavior 

Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline. 

  • 6+ years of experience in cybersecurity, software engineering, and/or IT with subject matter expertise in areas such as threat detection, detections engineering, response, or threat hunting. 

  • Strong hands-on expertise in Splunk Enterprise Security (ES), Defender, and CrowdStrike Falcon. 

  • Knowledge of OT/ICS environments, manufacturing networks, equipment connectivity and operational constraints in these environments.  

  • Understanding of cloud security architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern detection telemetry. 

  • Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, and CIS frameworks for threat mapping and control alignment.

The salary range for this role is $145,900.00 - $234,200.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
