Full Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY:

The OR Systems Manager provides leadership and supervision of daily operations for Perioperative and OR scheduling, inventory and billing systems. Assures the delivery of quality and patient-centered care in a manner reflective of the Medical Center's mission, vision, values and beliefs. Manages the cost center's fiscal, material and human resources, emphasizing staff retention strategies. Participates in department, division and organization-wide initiatives focusing on regulatory compliance and performance improvement. Maintains 24/7 accountability for assigned areas.

The Nurse Manager supervises Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and/or other support staff in the delivery of patient care as described in Nebraska Statute 38.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

*Manages all aspects of the peri-operative information system including surgical case scheduling, charge capture process, preference card management, informatics, inventory and auditing.

*Maintains Surgical Chargemaster, including knowledge of pass through coding.

*Develops and oversees charge and audit processes to ensure effective billing; standardizes methods of patient charging, software database tables and files in compliance with corporate standards.

*Manages inventory of general surgical supplies, implants and tissue; maintains a supply and equipment inventory that meets patient care needs; plans and implements annual inventory process.

*Develops, implements and analyzes adherence to organizational and service/unit specific standards of care and policies and procedures; establishes and implements/participates in cost containment and standardization programs.

*Analyzes changing patterns and trends to support service, staffing and surgical scheduling; optimizes surgical case scheduling.

*Develops and manages a capital, operational and human resource budget based on strategic service/unit priorities, best practices and organizational standards; analyzes and resolves variances; assists in the review of monthly operating reports; submits financial analysis and justification for variances.

*Promotes interdisciplinary and/or interdepartmental collaboration to optimize efficient and effective patient-centered care delivery.

*Engages in assigned hospital management, clinical and organizational meetings.

*Recruits and manages staff who demonstrate behaviors consistent with Bryan beliefs; acts as chief retention officer for area of responsibility.

*Conducts timely staff performance appraisals assuring staff competence while emphasizing staff retention strategies through coaching and individual development.

*Ensures ongoing compliance with accrediting and regulatory standards.

*Promotes evidence-based practice; interprets patient, physician, staff and other customer satisfaction results and strives for improvement; evaluates occurences, patient, physician and staff concerns and seeks resolution utilizing supportive organization procedures/methods.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act. Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field preferred. Participation in progressive education to advance knowledge/skills/abilities and/or certification in area of expertise preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience managing clinical populations commensurate to assigned service required. Minimum of one (1) year first line management experience required. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
