Job Description Summary:
Responsible for supporting the implementation and execution of engineering optimization workflows, tools, and value engineering initiatives across SOLV Energy projects under the guidance and supervision of senior engineers.

This role is hybrid with regular in-office presence in San Diego, CA or Bend, OR. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

General Duties
  • Support engineering and procurement teams through the utilization of in-house developed software solutions (Propt tool).
  • Coordinate with Engineering Management, Preconstruction, Procurement, Software Development, and the Lean Innovation & Technology (LIT) team as directed by the Engineering Optimization Manager.
  • Learn and apply established workflows for engineering technologies and process improvements across SOLV projects as directed.


Engineering Optimization & Process Development
  • Create pile matrices for purchase orders across active SOLV projects using the Propt tool with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Follow standardized workflows for pile procurement and project execution.
  • Communicate observations and potential opportunities to improve engineering workflows to senior team members.
  • Support implementation and adoption of engineering tools and process improvements across projects.
  • Monitor workflow performance and document observations for review by senior engineers.


Development & Tool Integration
  • Support LIT and software development teams by testing engineering tools and reporting findings as directed.
  • Gather feedback from project teams and communicate operational needs to senior engineers for tool enhancement requests.
  • Support testing, rollout, and training efforts for new capabilities and process improvements.
  • Assist in developing automation and reporting tools as directed by senior engineers.
  • Support integration of construction automation requirements into engineering standards and project designs under the guidance of senior engineers.


Value Engineering & Project Support
  • Assist with value engineering initiatives across civil, structural, and electrical disciplines.
  • Document and communicate potential opportunities for project cost savings and constructability improvements to senior engineers.
  • Support design teams and project stakeholders in implementing optimized engineering solutions as directed.
  • Assist project teams with engineering coordination and technical process support throughout project execution.


Management & Communication
  • Build working relationships across project teams to support consistent workflow execution and tool adoption.
  • Support organizational adoption of new engineering tools, workflows, and standards.


Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • 1-3 years of engineering, EPC, construction, or renewable energy experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (F.E.) preferred
  • Basic understanding of utility-scale solar project design and execution; willingness to develop expertise.
  • Familiarity with PV foundation and racking systems preferred.
  • Exposure to engineering coordination, procurement workflows, or project execution processes preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Interest in or basic experience with engineering software tools, databases, or workflow automation platforms preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks and communicate progress effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
  • Ability to adapt and respond quickly in a fast-paced EPC environment.
