Full Job Description
Job Title: Operations Supervisor - Weekend

Status: Full-time

Location: Guelph - Delta

Shift:12-hours/Shift - Weekend

Schedule: 12 hours shift (7 am to 7pm)- Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and 8 hours each other Monday (8am - 3pm with some flexibility)

The pay range for the role is $75,300 to $125,300 plus bonus, comprehensive benefits, retirement savings plan, paid vacation, and other perks and opportunities.

The Role and Candidate:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor will provide leadership to Production and Maintenance staff in order to achieve standards for safety, quality, cost, efficiency and productivity. The Operations Supervisor will also support and participate with the Production Management Team to focus on Continuously Improving processes and efficiencies within the operations.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for the overall effectiveness of the plant operations during assigned shift; this is a 'hands-on' position that directly supervises all shift staff, including training, planning workloads, developing production schedules and providing coaching and progressive discipline where required. Emphasis is on time spent on the floor directly supervising to meet organizational goals.
  • Champion and enforce Health & Safety, proactive approach to prevent accidents, incidents and near misses in the facility.
  • Work closely with the production staff in the areas of sanitation, hygiene, GMP's and other Food Safety, Quality Control, Quality Assurance programs.
  • Work towards Process Excellence & Lean Manufacturing endeavors of the organization
  • Responsible for authorizing and monitoring employees' time, attendance and payroll information
  • Communicate important information to, and from direct reports.
  • Maintain Production/Maintenance PM Programs, generate daily operating, efficiency reports as well as daily/weekly production mapping
  • Validate all production records and CIP records
  • Develop a co-operative team approach in the Production Department and work closely with Distribution, Production Planners, Finance, Maintenance, Human Resources, Quality and Plant Management
  • Provide flexible shift coverage including days, afternoons and nights. Willingness to work overtime as required
  • Other projects as assigned by management


Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years post secondary education or minimum 5 years of related experience
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in a HACCP regulated dairy, food or beverage processing environment
  • Solid knowledge of GMPs, including excellent sanitary habits and a strong understanding of HACCP and MSS as it applies to a food manufacturing environment
  • Familiar with total quality management and continuous improvement processes
  • Good decision-making & problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, including written and verbal
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Proficient computer abilities using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task
  • Physically capable of performing the demands of the job
  • Must be punctual and diligent
  • Computer skills and experience working with automated machinery
