Operations Supervisor II - Drilling Performance Products

Job Description

The Operations Supervisor II - Drilling Performance Products is responsible for the overall operations of the Drilling Performance Products suite within their assigned area. The product suite is inclusive of drilling process automation and advanced directional drilling automation solutions. This role ensures Performance Drilling technologies deliver maximum value by engaging customers directly and working closely with drilling and remote operations, training groups, and technical support. The position serves as the primary operational and technical point of contact between the business and its customers in the application of drilling performance products.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, or Electrical), or equivalent field experience
  • 3+ years of experience in drilling operations or directional drilling and drilling performance roles
  • Thorough understanding of the drilling and directional drilling process and the mechanics/physics involved
  • Strong analytical skills; demonstrated ability to develop analysis spreadsheets and reports
  • Highly proficient with Business Intelligence (BI) tools and interpretation of Electronic Data Recorder (EDR) data
  • Effective verbal and written communicator

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of experience in drilling operations, directional drilling, and/or drilling performance roles
  • Proficient knowledge of Spotfire and Power BI applications as well as other drilling performance analysis tools widely adopted in the in
  • Occasional travel required (less than 30% of time)
  • Position operates primarily in a professional office environment with periodic on-site field support at drilling locations

Responsibilities

Performance Product Operations
  • Manage group operations to ensure adequate field coverage as required by ongoing activity.
  • Provide in-depth drilling and directional drilling performance analysis extending beyond basic report interpretation, including interaction with customers and field personnel to obtain needed data.
  • Actively contribute to the development of the Performance Drilling Knowledge Base through tool improvements, data entry, and analysis.
  • Create reports for internal and external distribution to document product value and recommended next steps in technology adoption.
  • Track and report active job and trial activity across the assigned area.
  • Work with all required functions in the organization to ensure adequate staffing, resources, and support for current operations; anticipate future needs in close collaboration with geomarkets.

Customer Engagement & Technical Support
  • Engage with customers in well planning and drilling performance discussions to highlight opportunities and identify challenges to success.
  • Provide on-site expert support to drilling operations during field trials; develop sufficient knowledge of applicable Drilling Performance products with drilling contractors and operators.
  • Build strong relationships with customers based on a thorough understanding of drilling challenges, solutions, and technologies.
  • Support the differentiation of our offering by working closely with customers to become an integral part of their performance measurement and improvement processes.

Sales Support & Opportunity Development
  • Support account managers during sales calls and customer visits, including technical discussions, product presentations, and product training.
  • Identify, validate, and qualify opportunities for the application of technologies.
