Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for resolving production issues and improving designs for manufacturability while complying with technical specifications and statutory requirements. Incumbent will be involved in design process from concept to kick-off with the main objective to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact operations. Incumbents operate under general direction and report into an Engineering Lead or Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Responsible for structures engineering support (research, analysis, planning, integration, and testing) for interior/exterior installations on business, commercial and military aviation aircraft
• Responsible for ensuring production teams have a clear understanding of product designs, proactively resolving engineering concerns, and implementing steps to proactively prevent recurring issues on the production floor.
• Generates and assembles drawings and documents to support modification and installation of structural and system components on aircraft
• Designs and coordinates material and structural repairs
• Assists with planning and selection of equipment installation locations
• Coordinate and monitor structural/mechanical aspects of project schedule with project managers
• May assist in estimating, quoting and planning in support of aircraft modification
• Acts as a liaison between engineering and the aircraft integration/installation teams
• Maintains a good working knowledge of installations, modifications and structural configurations of aircraft components, fixtures, and associated equipment in accordance with the current engineering packages.
• Assist aircraft integration teams with structural planning and fit checks
• Interfaces with and maintains good working relationships with suppliers and integration teams
• Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
• A degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
• Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
• Expertise in design, testing, and risk analysis of mechanical systems and aircraft structures
• General knowledge of applicable standards and regulations (in particular CAR525/FAR25 as it applies to aircraft interiors)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Preference will be given to candidates with:
  • Experience in SolidWorks ePDM
  • Work experience in aircraft interior completions
  • P.Eng. accreditation, eligibility for P.Eng., or a foreign equivalent registration
  • Basic knowledge of AS9100 or similar Quality Management Systems

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Candidates must be able to adapt to organization changes, new procedures, and new methods.
• Candidates must have excellent report writing, problem resolution, communication and presentation skills
• Excellent communication and project management skills
• Candidates must have excellent soft skills and interact with technicians on daily basis

COMPENSATION:

Salary: 75k-95k

WORKING HOURS:

This is a full-time (FT) position and hours of work or shift patterns may change due to business operational needs. Flexibility is required and at present, the standard hours of work are 10am-7pm, Monday to Friday. The successful candidate must be also willing and able to support evening shift hours up to 11:00 PM.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Frequent or occasional periods of time are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about. Occasionally required to stop or lift light material or equipment.
• Time is split between computer work and time on the aircraft or at the shops.
• Occasional to frequent need to give concentrated attention, either hearing, seeing, visualizing, drafting, to what is happening and work being performed.
• Pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands exists.
• Candidates should have flexibility regarding hours of work as some extended days and/or weekend working can be a feature of employment to support deliverables.
