Northrop Grumman Defense System is seeking an Operations Program Engineer 5 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Advanced Weapons (AW) business unit.

This position is required to be full-time, on-site in the Northridge, CA location. No remote/telework arrangement is available for this position. Applicants must have the ability to obtain a US Government Secret security clearance.

The Operations Program Engineer 5 will drive end0end delivery of strategic operational projects that enhance production efficiency, supply0chain resilience, and compliance with defense0specific regulations. This role partners with senior leadership, engineering, quality, logistics, and external partners to define scope, create detailed plans, manage resources, mitigate risks, and ensure successful project outcomes while adhering to security and export0control requirements. The Operations Program Engineer 5 must be a self-starter, self-motivated individual who can work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing and maintaining the day-to-day interfaces and communications between the assigned Program Management Office (PMO), Manufacturing, Test, Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP), Mission Assurance (MA), Supply Chain (SCM), Engineering, and Shipping.
  • Achieving targeted cost and schedule requirements.
  • Development and adherence to master plans and schedules.
  • Facilitating internal meetings in a way to support design, production, and problem resolutions.
  • Lead direct reports and cross-functional Integrated Program Teams (IPT) to meet program cost, schedule and technical performance objectives
  • Reporting Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and serving as the Cost Account Management (CAM) for manufacturing projects.
  • Leading or participating on a product team, responsible for product-level requirements analysis, engineering and manufacturing of the products assigned, product tracking, and product visibility.
  • Representing manufacturing at the program Risk Review Board (RRB) meetings and creating / managing any applicable manufacturing risks and/or opportunities from the program risk register.
  • Supporting and generating proposal documentation as needed to foster new work.
  • Supporting hardware builds on a Middle Tier Acquisition (MTA) Program that delivers prototypes against a Firm-Fix-Price (FFP) development contract.

Note: This is an individual contributor role and not a manager position.

Basic Qualifications for an Operations Program Engineer 5:

  • Bachelor0s degree in engineering, business, operations management, or related field with 12 years of relevant experience or a Master0s degree with 10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in leadership and project management
  • Experience with cost, schedule, project leadership, and/or process improvement
  • Experience with SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and MS Office applications including Excel, Word, Project, and Power Point
  • Ability to obtain a US Government Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master0s degree in Engineering or Business Management
  • Manufacturing or Engineering experience
  • Experience with bases of estimates, shop order creation, and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)
  • Active US Governement Secret security clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $161,000.00 - $241,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate0s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
