About the site:
Our Orchard Park facility focuses on medical device assembly and packaging, ensuring high-quality output within a regulated production environment.

About the role:

As Operations Manager you will lead a team of 4 Production Supervisors overseeing approximately 150-160 manufacturing associates across multiple shifts, ensuring appropriate overall staffing, production planning, engineering and quality are maintained in order to meet our customers' needs. Manages the Tool Crib and Maintenance team, ensuring proper levels of support for the manufacturing floor.

What you will do:
  • Monitor daily production performance and ensure output meets customer demand, quality standards, and operational goals.
  • Manage labor efficiency and labor cost as a percentage of sales, identifying opportunities to improve productivity and reduce waste.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Production Supervisors through regular performance evaluations, feedback, and accountability measures.
  • Facilitate and lead Kaizen events and other continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Expedite materials and coordinate resources as needed to minimize production disruptions and support on-time delivery performance.
  • Monitor production capacity and adjust staffing or operational plans in response to changing customer demand and market conditions.
  • Support operational planning activities, including forecasting, labor planning, and performance metric reviews.
  • Responsible for achieving a 75% utilization on all machines, production standards and scrap rates meet or exceed the metric goals for scrap, EBITDA, Fill-rate, rework, etc.
  • Responsible to maintain a workforce with employees that understand and are able to perform assignments and manufacture good parts
  • Cross train employees to maintain 2 qualified employees for every job within the team
  • Conduct all employee reviews on a timely basis
  • Responsible for ensuring all team members understand and follow Lake Region Medical/Orchard Park policies and procedures
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Customer teams to achieve production, quality, and delivery objectives.
  • Minimize nonconformances from audits
  • Minimize hours lost due to workplace accidents/illnesses
  • Maintain the proper manpower requirement for your team
  • Achieve a 98% on time delivery rate for your team and the business unit
  • Minimize the use of overtime when meeting the customers' needs
  • Supervise Maintenance Dept. to ensure proper support for the Manufacturing Dept., to include timely delivery of services
  • Supervise Tool Crib area to ensure proper support for the Manufacturing Dept., to include timely delivery of supplies and accuracy of inventory levels
  • Serve as a key operational point of contact for customers, ensuring production commitments, delivery expectations, and quality standards are achieved.
  • Drive operational improvements focused on production stabilization, capacity optimization, and on-time delivery performance.
  • Champion a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with safety requirements, identifying improvement opportunities, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and support internal, customer, FDA, and ISO audit readiness activities.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives through Gemba walks, Kaizen events, root cause problem solving, and labor efficiency improvement activities.
  • Other duties as necessary

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience in a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working within regulated manufacturing environments and supporting FDA, ISO, or comparable quality audits.
  • Experience in medical device, aerospace/defense, automotive, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead from the manufacturing floor through direct engagement with supervisors and production teams

We offer market competitive compensation. Potential salary range for this role is $120k-$140k. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law
