Job Description:

The Operations Manager ensures the safe, reliable, efficient delivery of the production plan and the Manufacturing Strategy in compliance with all regulatory, site and company requirements through leadership of the operations team, partnership with the other site leaders and implementation of Operational Excellence. The MMA Operations Manager leads the operations and logistics functions for the plant.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Manage operations of the MMA Plant in a way that complies with all regulatory/company requirements and protects the safety and health of the employees and community.
  • Plan and manage plant operations and logistics to achieve on-time output to satisfy S&OP objectives and customer requirements within approved budget expenditures including development and prioritization of tactical plans with Maintenance, Engineering, S&OP and Commercial groups.
  • Drive the implementation of Manufacturing Excellence processes and systems to shape and achieve the Site's strategic goals and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the Operations team is highly competent and has the necessary skills, tools and information to safely and reliably operate the plant through the implementation of training systems and documented information (procedures, SOC's, safe work practices and standards).
  • Ensure that the team executes their responsibilities with a high degree of operational discipline.
  • Optimize employee-management relations ensuring a positive work environment, a high level of employee engagement and a strong safety culture.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiencies and reduce unnecessary costs by effectively reviewing and directing the activities of staff in the areas of safety, production, shipping, receiving, product quality, planning/scheduling and maintenance.
  • Maintain and improve the company's favorable image in the community and encouragement of participation in community activities.


SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • The MMA plant is a dynamic, continuous 24/7 operation. The operations manager is often required to provide support to the operating team during odd hours.


KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

The Operations Manager must possess a strong commitment to high EHS standards and Manufacturing Excellence. This leadership position is both managerial and technically oriented. The job holder is expected to possess or develop (in a short period) a deep technical understanding of the MMA plant's chemical process, unit operations and logistics processes in addition to managerial/leadership skills.

Ten years of manufacturing experience and a bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical or electrical engineering are required. Additionally, the role requires thorough knowledge of theory and practice of industrial engineering, personnel and labor relations, accounting principles, plant maintenance, materials handling, safety and environmental regulations. Prior leadership experience is required along with the ability to plan, organize, and control the operation of a multi-unit, high hazard chemical manufacturing facility (subject to both OSHA PSM and EPA RMP) that is regulated by multiple local, state and federal agencies and laws.

Excellent Oral and written communication with the ability to present to senior management and communicate effectively with shop floor employees.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong background in continuous improvement (Lean, Chemical manufacturing)

The salary range for this position is $160,000- $170,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
