POSITION SUMMARY:

Immediate Opening

Salary range: $85,000.00 - $120,000

The Operational Excellence Sustainability Leader leads the training and implementation of World Class Manufacturing and lean concepts within the facility and is the key catalyst for concept adoption within the division.  The Leader will coordinate problem solving activities and projects that are key to overall divisional initiatives.  Within this the Leader oversees the success and improvement of the following programs: Mafact, Employee Involvement (Suggestion), 5S, Sustainability (Energy Reduction, Waste Reduction).    

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
1.    Completion of a related specialized course or engineering or Industrial related program from a recognized community college or university, consisting of more than two academic years. Equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be considered
2.    3-5 years related work experience in multiple areas of a manufacturing environment.  Experience in an Automotive environment is a definite asset
3.    Demonstrated experience and strong knowledge of continuous improvement techniques, Six Sigma techniques, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TWI, and Quality and Environmental Management Systems
4.    Have had the opportunity to act as a role model to support cultural change and to foster behaviours that drive continuous improvement and employee involvement
5.    Strong project management skills and experience
6.    Able to deal effectively with people and exhibit maturity in judgement. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with employees throughout the plant
7.    Must have experience delivering presentations, facilitating project planning and proposal development, and measuring improvement effectiveness
8.    Strong technical background with ability to ‘think outside the box’ and challenge the status quo by encouraging creative thinking and supporting ideas beyond those of a traditional manufacturing industry
9.    Must have above average computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft office software
10.    Must have a solid working knowledge (oral and written) of both English and Mathematics
11.    Good organizational, leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
12.    Must have good communication skills
13.    Able to be flexible in hours of work to meet internal/external customer requirements 
14.    Willingness to work off-shifts and/or weekends as needed for project completion.
15.    Familiarity with quality core tools (i.e. FMEA, APQP, MSA, etc)
16.    Well-developed communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical abilities
17.    Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or working towards certification is a definite asset

DUTIES:
Operational Excellence: 
1.    Provides leadership for WCM activities Leads Kaizen events, Makigami exercises, etc.
2.    Encourage, support, educate and promote the benefits of becoming a Lean Organization utilizing Lean tools and concepts
3.    Oversee, lead and co-ordinate regular, practical improvement in Mafact World Class Manufacturing program and score
4.    Oversee Employee Improvement (Suggestion) program to promoted involvement and ensure achievement of targets
5.    Oversee the Sustainability program (Energy Reduction, Waste to Landfill reduction) program to promote involvement and ensure achievement of targets
6.    Leads the division wide 5S program and activity
7.    Acquire an in-depth understanding and knowledge of Presstran’s manufacturing operations and supporting processes
8.    Identify, communicate, and implement opportunities to meet and exceed established targets that will improve overall safety, productivity, quality, and service
9.    Investigate and remedy issues using approved problem-solving techniques: 5 Why, Fishbone analysis, etc.
10.    Support and conduct Kaizen activities throughout facilities
11.    Design and complete experiments to show the benefits of potential improvements visually, statically and or using data-driven, evidence-based decision making
12.    Ensure Presstran business plan and departmental goals and objectives are met 
13.    Prepare, facilitate, and actively participate in production department lean teams, activities, and events
14.    Follow through with open issues and monitor progress
15.    Conduct all business activity in a professional manner consistent with the positive professional practices of building trust, empowerment, and competitiveness, with emphasis on personal responsibility
16.    Continuously develops their personal skill and ability
17.    Ensure the implementation of improvement suggestions is completed within the targeted time period and budget
18.    Tracking, reporting, and analysis of metrics relating to program(s) maturity, participation and business benefits
19.    Continually look for, suggest, and implement ideas to improve all programs
20.    Thoroughly and accurately track and communicate all required data related to all programs

Sustainability:
1.    Lead and manage energy efficiency programs, including identification, assessment, prioritization, and recommendation of energy projects aimed at reducing consumption and costs.
2.    Develop and implement measurement and verification strategies for energy-related initiatives.
3.    Conduct high-level assessments and walkthrough audits to identify energy performance improvement opportunities.
4.    Complete “50001 Ready” exercises to establish sustainable energy management frameworks.
5.    Manage and monitor energy tracking systems, KPIs, and reporting to improve energy performance organization wide.
6.    Support the company’s sustainability initiatives and participate in government programs and incentives related to energy reduction.
7.    Lead cross-functional energy teams and provide training on energy monitoring systems.
8.    Prepare reports, including mid-term and annual energy and safety reports.

5.    Follows and complies with all operational procedures/policies as stated in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environmental programs (e.g. ISO/IATF-16949, ISO14001)
6.    Adheres to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with the OHSA.   Follows and ensures the Company’s procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed throughout their assigned area
7.    Takes pride in keeping their work area clean and tidy
8.    Other duties as required
