Full Job Description
Operations & Growth Support Generalist

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Location: On-site / Hybrid - Washington DC Metro Area

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Clearance: Must be able to obtain/hold up to a Secret clearance

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Position Summary

This is a hands-on, high-visibility role for someone who wants exposure across the full program operations, growth/business development support, and exposure to working with multiple corporate departments. The selected candidate must be organized, process-minded, comfortable with ambiguity, and eager to learn how a government contractor runs end-to-end. This role reports directly to the COO and will serve as a key operational right hand, with the opportunity to grow into a more senior operations or program management role.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Support (Primary Focus)
  • Partner with the COO to organize, document, and improve internal operating processes (SOPs, workflows, dashboards, trackers).
  • Maintain and improve internal tools/systems used to track deliverables, staffing, compliance deadlines, and action items.
  • Prepare materials for leadership meetings, board updates, and internal reviews (status decks, metrics, agendas, minutes).
  • Track and follow up on all Operations and Growth open action items across departments to ensure department accountability and timely closure.
  • Support Operations compliance activities to include CPARS/past performance documentation and any required ISO, CMMI or CMMC responsibilities.
  • Assist with Operations administration tasks such as tracking CDRLs/deliverables.

Growth & Process Support
  • Assist with proposal coordination: maintaining proposal calendars, formatting documents, compiling past performance and resumes, and tracking submission deadlines.
  • Help build and refine repeatable processes for capture and proposal management (templates, checklists, lessons-learned tracking).
  • Support market research and opportunity tracking (SAM.gov, GovWin, agency forecasts) under direction of the COO/BD lead.
  • Help coordinate and partner communications during capture efforts and ensure that complete information is provided to Contracts so teaming agreements and NDAs can be completed in a timely manner.

Joint Venture/Mentor Protege Oversight
  • Maintain on-line files, documents and dues dates for all required operational submittals.
  • Schedule appropriate meetings in accord with the individual operating agreements or as needed for each entity.
  • Report any lapses in managing member efforts/performance in the operation of the entity.

Accounting & Contracts - Coordination
  • Working closely with Accounting and Contracts, ensuring all Operations and Growth reporting and paperwork (such as reconciling expense reports and ensuring backup is sufficient) are completed and submitted to the controlling department in a timely manner.
  • Help ensure timely flow of information between Operations, Accounting, and Contracts to avoid bottlenecks and delays.

General
  • Act as a flexible utility player who can pick up ad hoc projects and "whatever's needed" tasks for the COO.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline or automate manual processes across functions.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in operations, project coordination, contracts, accounting, or business support - government contracting environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint); comfort learning new systems (ERP, CRM, proposal tools).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise discretion with sensitive/confidential information, and handle competing demands calmly.
  • Ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with FAR/DFARS or government contract types (FFP, T&M, CPFF).
  • Familiarity with government accounting/billing concepts a plus.
  • Experience supporting proposal/capture efforts in a small-to-mid-size GovCon environment.
  • Experience with tools such as Unanet, GovWin, or SAM.gov.
  • PMP, CBAP, or similar certification (or interest in pursuing) a plus.

What Success Looks Like in This Role
  • The COO has a reliable partner who keeps Operations processes organized and moving without constant COO oversight.
  • Growth/proposal efforts run on time and with consistent quality because of strong process support.
  • Accounting, Contracts, and other Corporate Departments functions experience no disruption due to delays in Program Operations or Growth submitting documentation correct and on schedule.

Why Join Us

This role offers broad exposure across a growing government services company, direct mentorship from the COO, and a clear path to grow into a leadership role in Operations or Program Management as the company scales.

Compensation: $80k/yr - $105k/yr
