Opportunity SummaryThe Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Technician supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Millennium Power's 360 MW combined-cycle facility. This position monitors plant systems, responds to alarms, performs startups and shutdowns, and operates, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs the Siemens 501G combustion turbine, Siemens BB 33-65 steam turbine, and associated balance-of-plant systems. The role also performs mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control maintenance while supporting equipment reliability and plant performance.
Your scope of responsibility as O&M Technician will include the following primary functions:- Operate and continuously monitor the combustion turbine, steam turbine, and associated plant equipment and auxiliary systems during startup, shutdown, and normal operating conditions in accordance with established procedures.
- Monitor plant performance and operating parameters, respond promptly to alarms and upset conditions, take appropriate corrective actions, and communicate equipment or plant-status abnormalities to the Lead O&M Technician.
- Conduct routine plant rounds and equipment inspections, identify abnormal operating conditions, and provide timely feedback to the Lead O&M Technician and other personnel as directed.
- Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, including inspection, testing, adjustment, repair, installation, and removal of plant equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment and system issues to restore reliability, maintain generating capability, and support safe and efficient plant performance.
- Complete plant switching, equipment isolation, tagging, and restoration activities in accordance with approved procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements and prudent operating and maintenance practices.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair pumps, valves, rotating equipment, generators, instrumentation, control systems, electrical equipment, and other balance-of-plant systems.
- Document shift activities through accurate operating logs, equipment history, time sheets, work orders, maintenance records, and other required administrative documentation using the plant's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Assist with maintaining the accuracy of plant operating manuals, technical references, drawings, diagrams, and preventive and predictive maintenance records.
- Adhere to all plant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements; identify safety or environmental hazards and take or coordinate appropriate corrective action.
- Participate in scheduled outages, corrective maintenance activities, plant improvement initiatives, and other operational or maintenance work as required.
- Collaborate with plant personnel, contractors, vendors, and other departments to safely and efficiently complete work and support facility goals.
- Maintain established housekeeping standards throughout assigned work areas and support the overall cleanliness and condition of the facility.
- Fulfill other duties and tasks as directed by the on-shift Lead O&M Technician or assigned by the Operations Manager to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.

Working Relationships The O&M Technician reports to the Operations and Maintenance Manager and takes general direction from plant management. Additionally, this position will coordinate with all other plant personnel to ensure safe and reliable plant operations.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds.
Power plant environment that may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions.
Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility.
Fitness for Duty All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule The O&M Technician follows DuPont's rotating 12-hour shift schedule, providing 24/7 coverage through a structured rotation of day and night shifts. This position will require extended hours, flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed to support plant operations and business needs and may also require callout availability. Depending on the position, on-call status may or may not apply.
Compensation This position offers a base pay rate ranging from $47.84 to $51.84 per hour, along with eligibility for an annual performance bonus.
Operational Qualifications and Technical Skills - High school diploma or equivalent required. An associate degree in power plant technology, engineering technology, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Current Massachusetts 2nd Class Fireman license required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain the required Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer license with 1C and 3A restrictions within 12 months of hire.
- Minimum of two years of experience as an O&M Technician or in an equivalent position within an operating power generation or comparable heavy industrial facility.
- Hands-on experience operating and maintaining combustion turbines, steam turbines, generators, auxiliary systems, and balance-of-plant equipment; Siemens 501G, Siemens BB 33-65, or comparable combined-cycle equipment experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to perform plant startups and shutdowns, monitor operating parameters, respond to alarms and abnormal conditions, and support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, including troubleshooting and maintenance of pumps, valves, piping, rotating equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, instrumentation, and related plant equipment.
- Familiarity with water chemistry, water treatment operations, chemical handling, equipment switching and isolation, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and applicable power plant safety and environmental requirements.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting operating procedures, technical manuals, P&IDs, blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and other equipment documentation, with the ability to safely use hand tools, portable power tools, and basic rigging equipment.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate operating and maintenance records and coordinate effectively with plant personnel, contractors, and vendors.
- Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver's license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.
