Job Description:
The Analyst - Operational Performance & Improvement provides analytical, benchmarking, reporting, and continuous improvement support across John Muir Health. The role collects, validates, and analyzes clinical, operational, quality, safety, financial, workforce, and patient experience data to identify trends, performance variation, and improvement opportunities. The Analyst develops and maintains reports, dashboards, scorecards, and analytical tools that support organizational decision-making, benchmarking, and external data submissions. Working collaboratively with clinical, operational, and administrative teams, the Analyst supports Lean and performance improvement initiatives by establishing baseline measures, evaluating outcomes, and determining whether implemented changes achieve and sustain intended results.

Education/Experience/Skills Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Industrial Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Information Systems, Health Informatics, or related field.


Experience

  • One (1) year of experience in healthcare analytics, clinical analytics, decision support, quality analytics, operational finance, business intelligence, performance improvement, operational excellence, or a related analytical field.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong analytical, quantitative, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn healthcare clinical, operational, quality, safety, financial, and performance measures.
  • Strong report-writing and data-visualization skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Experience with or ability to develop proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, or comparable BI applications.
  • Experience with SQL, relational databases, enterprise data warehouses, or comparable querying tools preferred.
  • Experience with EHR and healthcare clinical/procedural data preferred.
  • Experience with Epic, Workday, Vizient, quality databases, financial systems, or comparable platforms preferred.

  • Ability to communicate quantitative information clearly to nontechnical audiences.
  • Working knowledge of or interest in developing proficiency in Lean and structured problem solving.

  • Ability to manage recurring reporting deadlines and multiple assignments.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with clinical, operational, financial, technical, and administrative stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of relevant analytical or healthcare experience.
  • Experience in a hospital, health system, medical group, or other healthcare environment.
  • Experience extracting or analyzing data from EHR, clinical, procedural, quality, operational, or financial systems.
  • Experience with healthcare benchmarking databases, including Vizient ODB, ActionOI, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience with healthcare productivity or workforce analytics.
  • Exposure to Lean, Kaizen, Kata, Six Sigma, or structured performance improvement methodologies.
  • Lean/lean Six Sigma, Power BI/Tableau, healthcare analytics, finance, project management, or performance improvement certification.


Work Shift:
Exempt Days (Mon-Fri) (United States of America)

Pay Range:
$55.48 - $83.20

Hourly

Offer amounts are based on demonstrated/relevant experience and/or licensure.

Pay will be adjusted to the local market if hired outside of the Bay Area.

Note: Positions at JMH which are exempt (not eligible for overtime) under the level of Manager are listed as hourly for compensation purposes on this posting. The work shift will contain the word 'exempt' on it.
